The sound engine is much the same with very few differences.
The converters are high quality like the MPC2000XL.

Subject: MPC1000

The MPC1000 is a hot item, but i still have few questions i want to get out the way.

1) The MPC2000xl uses the S2000 engine, i was wondering what engine does the MPC 1000 use?

2)Are the converters on the 2000xl same as the 1000?

Thank you.

Akai managed not to say anything (again).

No one really wants to define `engine`. When you refer to `engine`, do you mean the OS or Hardware or both? Does the OS qualify as part of the engine?

mpc3000 i believe akai meant the hardware are very similar. i talked on the phone with akai, and they told me the hardware(yesss that stuff inside the mpc) is very similar, they said they managed to cut the cost by using cheaper new technology, and not having to read all formats like S1000/s3000 helped cut the cost and some other ish i cant remember.

look mpc3000, ur the smart guy, ur the one who suppose to know all that stuff, or atleast find out! but no, ur always assuming when u dont know if not LYING! cuz remember when i asked you in a thread what hardware did akai used in mpc1000, you said something like"they used technology that akai never used before", but now its obvious that u were wrong! the hardware is very similar.

I SUGGEST you prove me wrong by doing ur research, and show us the source of ur information so it can be verified.

Dont assume things out of pride, there are things ur just NOT gonna know about!

I hope u have decided to take a new path and change ur life for the better, being arrogant will only cause you to make mistakes.

i believe "they said they managed to cut the cost by using cheaper new technology" qualifies as "they used technology that akai never used before"...for that new technology they are talkin about was not available at the time akai designed the 1k's predecessors. Thus indeed they used something new they have never used before.
So the question remains what exactly is new. If i had to guess i would say that they kept the basic layout but used smaller components which is basically downscaling on the original design.
The operating system has no influence on the signal path and so cannot be considered as a part of the sound engine. That would be like sayin that midi has a sound on its own.
Dont let urself be intimidated by senor mpc3000's outspoken opinions.
To my logic he is right most of the time.LOL.PEACE 8)

well, the code will hold the filters, envelopes, and many other parts of the sound engine, so it is a funky term.

"i believe akai meant the hardware are very similar"

The hardware is completely different.

"I SUGGEST you prove me wrong by doing ur research"

The previous MPC's used 16mhz V53 processors with separate LCD driver, LSIs and other chips. The MPC1000 uses a 160 Mhz SH3 processor with integrated components. It is almost entirely contained on a single chip. This is vastely different from the former method.

AkaiPro US knows very little about the design and technology in the machines.

stop the bull...

Akai would never mention the word 'Cheaper Technology'.

look mate...jus coz ure a 2000xl cat...theres no need to start making up a load of bull.

no company ever admits using 'cheaper' tech.

and to be honest.

the cost of the 1000 would be down...i mean the fu*king 2000 XL was and still is a rip off anyway. in the UK its from £700.

the 1000 is in no way weaker.

thats like saying that PCs are cheaper now than 3 - 4 years ago, must be cheaper parts, i.e. the Intel chip must be a fake one...NOT.

all these unit are overpriced cash till chasis's put together into a drum boxes at the end of day. Akai are nothing special they use to make VHS tapes...lets not forget that.

so don't chat shit.

Whyyy would they not? cheaper new technology does NOT mean a bad thing at alllll, ur so hard-headed, as technology improves, technology tend to become cheaper to produce.

i have an MPC3000.

I think most hardware are not overpriced, I dont know about the UK, but in America we live in the capitalistic system, the demand will set the price. People are in business to make money!

Roopesh is right. Think about the price on computers. It has fallen dramaticly since the beginning of the PC era. Does that mean that the PC's have been getting crappier and built with cheaper/crappier parts and technology? ...... NO! It just means that people have found cheaper ways to produce better parts with better technology.

Wake up, the MPC 1000 is not a lesser machine than the 2000 XL. It's just different.

Muderfcher, Cheaper does not mean worse you thick skulled hooligan.

He never said it was worse! Less expensive, like ram and shit.

And by the way, Roopesh is never right. ;)

I was under the impression Akai were still using the v53. Did you take the 1000 apart to find this out or were you able to get a full spec?
