jomox mbase?

Im tempted to pick one up. I'd get the xbase, but dont have the $ right now. Anybody use one of these?

I use the xbase09:

Its a drummachine, the mbase is just a bassdrummodule, capable of even further range of insane kicks.
the backdraw with it(mbase) is u dont have realtime cntrl of more than 1 parameter.
I can swear that the kick on the xbase09, is the hardest, deepest., it goes further, than a 909. Use it thru a PA-system and u will hear it.
They are getting cheap here to, about 400dollars(sweden).

yeah, thats why i wanted the mbase, for kicks. 09 is too much for my needs. nice to have those extra sounds but all i want is just something to add a little touch to my samples.

I use the Mbase. I don't mind using samples for all other drums, but the kick is one thing I'd rather have the Mbase for. It can be as deep or punchy you want it be.
I have a terrible gearlust for the Jomox xbase 999 but hopefully I can keep myself under control. A new turntable has to come first, damnit.

i miss my 909 only for that feature

i've got an mbase. the sound is very good. you can also use it as a monophonic bass synth, playing different pitches and that is a big plus. it has an lfo that you can sync to midi so you can do some sick bass things.

it is expensive for what it is. the attack can be kinda lame, like a little chirping sound, but you can turn the chirp down. there is only one knob which for a unit of this price, is not enough. but overall i haven't sold it yet so i guess that says something. i haven't used the xbase though i'd like to so i could see how the kick sound compares. but the xbase can't do the monophonic bass thing i think, so i'm keeping the mbase. if you just want kicks though, just get some sample cds of some good kicks and you'll get basically the same sound. if you played me some good kick samples and some mbase kicks in a blind test, i might prefer a lot of the samples to the mbase, and i'm picky.

you can control multiple parameters with midi controller cc's. i have it setup for this with my keyboard knobs, and soon my kenton control freak. breathes new life into it for performing or improvising and makes creating kick sounds a lot faster.

I hooked it up to a keyboard, but couldnt get it spread out on the keys. its set on split mode 2. how does the knob feel on yours? mine feels a bit flimsy and have to turn two clicks for one increment. sound quality wise, I think it's good enough to make thin drums sound full.

i'm not with mine now so i can't tell you about the midi stuff though i remember it took me a minute to figure it out. the 1 page manual is badly written.

yeah the knob is not very responsive for me.
