Hey bridgealantee, maybe you're right, maybe that's why the're avoiding ya.
Write them, maybe. Maybe I will, too. But then again, I'm not in a hurry.

We'll see.

I'll let you know if I know anything more

Ufff,

I needed mine in beige and that was what I got the first time. So mine should be in the mail somewhere in the US...

You can spray paint it anyway you want. Camo or pink :D

received my drive from http://www.psism.com/iisdmc.htm

installed it just the way everyone else did.... connected to motherboard with 40 pin ide flat cable from radioshack and powered it through a power connector.

i turn on my mpc ... and NO LUCK. all lights turn on and screen says "MPC 2000XL"

but..... about once out of every 10 times i turn it on it will boot and go to the main screen on the OS. but when i try to load my cf card it doesn't read the drive it says "NO FLOPPY"

i noticed when i turn on the machine the light on the drive will flash briefly and turn off. when the light stays on, the machine boots but still does not detect atapi.

i'm stressin here son... SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Not sure why it freezes sometimes but you need to make sure the jumper is in the proper place in order for the MPC to see the reader.

i set the jumper to master. still no luck.

LAMPDOG said try setting the primary device to ATAPI pg 153 xl manual.

i tried and my machine does not have the option for atapi. it says floppy, SCSI 0-7, and F-ROM, but NO atapi. i'm running OS 1.14

i'm scared to turn off my mp, cuz it doesn't always boot the drive!

STRANGE

I think you might have installed it wrong. Peep:

MIDICASEdotCOM wrote:Installing a Zip100 or Zip250 is relative straightforward and simple. Either ATAPI or SCSI will work. ATAPI will be easier to find and I imagine a bit cheaper.

Also, when an ATAPI Zip is installed, replacing the floppy, the floppy controller gets disabled by the system and the MPC doesn't search for it, which is a good thing since it isn't there anymore.

When SCSI used, the floppy controller is not disabled even though the floppy is not longer there and when you go to open or save the MPC tries to search for the floppy and just returns an error. It doesn't hurt anything but just annoying, so ATAPI is probably the preferred one to use. Also the an ATAPI Zip needs to be configured as MASTER.
