I recently bought an Ensoniq DP4 on ebay.com because the thing is a beast but they don't make'em anymore. Unfortunately, the guy didn't have the manual anymore. That's not too big a deal, really, I should be able to figure it out with a little patience, but if someone knows where to find a manual online (i've searched; i could only find one for the DP4+. Close, but not the same thing) or if someone has one that they wouldn't mind copying a couple pages from, that would be awesome.

I only really need to know how to set it up to send/ receive MIDI controller info. (I'd be using the knobs from an Oxygen 8 to control it) The MIDI implementation chart would make my life right about now.

lemme know,

Thank you much for the reply, but thats the manual for the DP4+. I found that one already, but from what i'm told the DP4 and the DP4+ are different enough that the DP4+ manual won't really help me with MIDI setup on the DP4. This would be one of those rare cases where i'd LOVE to be proven wrong, though.

Again, thank you. I'll try to poke through it and see if it helps.

Anybody know anything else?

I knew I shoulda taken that instead of spanish... 'course my spanish isn't much better.

I went to Cancun in high school:

"Cuanto mas?"

"Dos cervezas por favor!"

"Puedo fumar aqui?" (the answer is almost invariably 'yes', BTW)

DP4 And DP4+ manuals should be almost the same...

The + model has a couple new algoritms and new effects, stuff like MIDI CC shouldnt be different.
Don't waste precious beatmaking time searching, just go for the dp+ manual holmes

I was having the same problem until I just copped a hard copy of the manual off Ebay. Its nice to have the manual for the make and model. That online DP4+ manual is missing MIDI info. Just look on Ebay and cop one when they pop up.

Um...huh? Sorry, MIDI still kinda messes me up. Basically I'm trying to set up the Oxygen so that I can use the knobs to control stuff like the rate for a tremolo or the Q for an EQ; so i can record live parameter changes onto the MPC. I'm not even totally sure I can do this but, hey, worth a shot.

Now, I think I know what I need to do for the Oxy, but it involves setting the knobs to control certain CC info on the DP4- and I don't know how to figure out the CC info for individual parameters on the DP4.

If it's roughly the same on the DP4+ and the DP4, then I'll give that manual a whirl. But if someone has one of these, (toon, you mentioned it in a post a while ago and thats what turned me onto it. Thank you!) let me know what I can reasonably expect it to do.

Hey now! I think this has something to do with asking if i need help or something like that.... but I'm pretty sure I don't appreciate being called a 'maricon'.... ;)

if you have a pc, you can connect the dp/4 to it via midi, then use a program like 'Midi Viewer' to see what signals it's sending, then you can program these into the oxygen.

hope this helps.
