the 200 series are from when soundcraft still made quality desks. fully modular, great clean sound, musical EQ.
I love it, and got this one at a bargain price.
I was using a custom built passive summing mixer before this, but wanted to return to a more hands on approach, and make it easier to integrate outboard.

Yeah, i've been checking them out. a guy around me has an older 400b 16 channel that i'm thinking of checking out. I'll probably need more inputs than that tho.

To tell you the truth, you can do the exact same thing the asr-10 does on reason 3.0. Using the NX-TT, Recycle, reason’s FX and recoding it direct into the 2500. I got reason on midi A, proteus 2000 on midi B & C (because its rom's are maxed out) and the ASR-10 on D.

Yea i was just wondering how you liked using it with the 2500. I have the ASR 10 , but the keyboard version. I use to use it with the MPC1k, unitl I sold it. Now I just use the ASR 10.... The sound out of the ASR is better than the sound out of Reason. I can tell you that first hand.. But this is the wrong thread to get into that about... Nice setup bro....

Actually I use the mbox, and the ASR 10 on a daily basis. Excuse for me this. though I knew it would stir things up a bit on here. Let me re-state this statement, In Reason, and in the ASR. I gurantee they will sound different, theres no denying that, but IN MY opinion the the difference that is noticed, to ME sounds better. The ASR does have a dirtier sound straight out the box compared to Reason... Like
I mentioned the same sample in both will not sound the same. The ASR does color sound, and if you have ever used one you can't deny that. I happen to like that sound that comes out the ASR 10 in comparision to the Reason...

The ASR is dirtier? I guess you are implying that this is a good sound. Little Brother's CD was reportedly creating using FL Studio although it sounds as if it was created using an MPC or an ASR. Timbo uses an ASR..but when you listen to Missy's music, its sounds so crystal clear..digital...nothing dirty about her sound. The same goes for the Neptunes music.

Straight out the box? Well, you will need a sound card to use Reason. Which is essential to that way it sounds (of course it doesn't play much, if any, part if you are keeping the audio inside your computer). But you have the optionof routing Reason's audio out to an analog mixer if you want a particular sound. You will get varying results depending on the type of mixer you use. You can also insert different types of signal processors in the signal chain (compressors, effects, eq, etc). And let me back up just a second. Reason is not a sampler but a sample player. You will need a sampler (a software mult-track recording program will do fine sa well). The way the sample sounds will depend on the recording source. Dirty in will equal dirty out.

Most of my samples come straight off vinyl through my sony turntable> into the Korg Kaoss pad 2 (preamp), and then into my ASR 10. Once I'm done with a beat, and I want to track it out. I'll run my ASR through my Mbox, and into either Acid Pro 5, or into Ableton Live 5.....i agree your signal chain has alot to do with it. And sure anyone can dirty up a sound, with whatever you use. I just so happen to like the sound of the
ASR, and then resmpling with the asr internal effects... ooooooweeeee.... But you know what its all good. We all like to use what we like to use, andas long as its good, then f@ck it. Buts its nice havin a decent conversation on here for once.....
