Copying files from PC for MPC use

I've got a bunch of chopped breaks and beats on my computer that I've collected through the years that I am copying and pasting onto a compact flash card for use with my MPC 2000xl. This usually works fine, but for some reason some files won't copy over and my PC gives me the error message, "Can not copy file: the directory or file can not be created." I'm stumped about what to about this. Any thoughts?

make sure you have .wav files.
make sure the file names are under 8 characters.

Also, the wavs need to be 16 bit, 44.1KHz.

Also, there are different kinds of wav files. Make sure they are PCM wav files, those are the only ones the MPC can read.

SF and CoolEdit have an option, to save as a PCM wav. To be safe, open up one of those, and batch convert (or one at a time if you prefer) your wav files to PCM wav and it should transfer without a problem. Assuming you do what these fellas already said.

And yes it must be 16 bit, but it doesnt have to be 44.1 for the MPC to read it. Makes it easier though. If you load a 16 bit PCM wav file that is NOT 44.1, you will have to either pitch it up or down to get it to sound the way it is supposed to. To save yourself the headache, just load it up as a 44.1 wav like these fellas said.
