tbonus - i think that was like the only time i've ever posted drunk (and admitted it), you must have me confused with someone else because i most definitely don't do that "all the time." it annoys the shit out of me too - that is, when people post drunkenly and are useless about it. i should hope my drunken post was a bit more useful. as for the pills thing, i feel my life changed for better when i discovered antidepressants.
also, although i DEFINITELY don't do em anymore and don't even condone it, pain pills do provide good drums...from my experience in my more troubled times. as for pot, well, it's pot. sorry if all this gets under your skin, i'll try and tone it down a bit. however, it's funny how people will take you less seriously when you admit that chemicals do indeed effect your decisions, art, physiological structure...shit, how many kids post on here amped up on caffeine? THAT must cause some percentage of the crazy posts we get.
anyway, i promise, dad, this won't happen again (for at least a month, cuz zoloft and alcohol don't mix. mad hangovers). hahah peace.
sam - i used the laptop comparison because of the constant size comparisons of the1k to the laptop, and because laptops are pretty damn sturdy. plus, i drum on my laptop
as for what i was experiencing, another poster got it dead on. my A01 pad was **** up (i'd tried using thermal grease before and that wasn't great but worked) and the others were getting more and more unpredictable. i used full velocity ALL THE TIME. some pads were doing a lil double triggering. all this and just a general "bad pad syndrome"
modnar - good idea. i'd suggest glueing said thin strips on the very edge of the graphite and then gluing the graphite paper-down to the sensor. let the paper hang over the edge of the graphite for additional support and just glue the hell out of it.
shoot, man - none of us need to buy 16 dollar replacement pads if someone can find out how to get graphite sheets from online, we could jsut repair em ourselves.
