anyone taken apart a 2500 pad yet? they're based on the same construction as the 1k. please tell me what's up in there...same setup with sensor, glue, graphite, pad? is everyone's glue holding up well?

i have a 2500 and i'm not completly sure but i'm pretty sure the 2500 pads are the ones the xl's and other mpc's have.

They are. Well at least the guys at VST said they are.....

I hope the build quality, durability and longevity of the 2500 is as good or better than the 60/3000 era MPC's.Save for burned out backlights the older MPC's are still in heavy use with little to no build quality problems like the 1000 seems to have.Maybe the folks that are having problems with newer akai products caught a bad batch but I hope that my $2000 investment last me for years and years to come without having to replace defective pads or anything else for that matter.

are you sure this is true? i had heard that akai changed their entire pad structure with the 1000...ie, individual pads, no longer a "sheet" of 16. got me?

i'd really like to have a set of 2000 pads, 60 pads, 4000 pads and 2500 pads to compare.

they're all great design, even the 1k's pads. the only issue with the 1k pads is the glue which holds on the graphite. touch that up and you're good to go. unfortunately, it's gotten a really bad reputation from kids who bug out because they are afraid to deal with the problem themselves.

i am no longer considering picking up an older model mpc just for the performance pads...my 1000 is just as good.

however, i did have a dream last night that someone gave me a 2500 for free. hint hint, bitches.

The 2500 pads are s sheet like the 60,3000,2000,2000xl,4000.. Go on VST's website...The 1k is the only one that is different from the rest..

oh, wow. back to sheet. so the 2500 can't replace pads one at a time.

weird, i wonder what compelled akai to try that out for the 1k? strange, strange.

nevermind then, as you were

i think they went with a cheaper design, knowing they weren't going to last as long, so therefore they had to separate them, because otherwise everyone would get rid of their mpc1ks and not buy any more.

actually the MPD16 is the same as the 2kxl 300 etc etc... took mine apart. under the sheet of rubber pads, there is like a double layer of plastic, with the sensors on these, the plastic sheeting is the thing that povides the support, and the reason these pads last so long.

well, i've only briefly tried a 2kxl, so i'm not too sure, maybe the rubber's different, or else they're used to their worn in pads, and forget that theirs were like that once. who knows? :D

because i've heard people say the mpd's pads suck or they feel real hard and unlike the mpc's usual pads. so if i could get the mpd but with actual mpc pad that i like i think that would be better.
