Was banging out some stuff this weekend and ran across an issue which I later got around. I know you guys know how to do this right way..
Heres what I did:

Take for example a Horn Sample like the Beginning of the NFL Theme....you know.. DUNT_DUNT_DUNT_DAAAAAAAAAH....

Ok...I loaded a similar sound like that NFL horn riff, zoned it, 4 zones, went and set the start and ends where I wanted, Sliced it and saved it as a new program.
(Oh yeah...What is End Margin???)<-----i left it at 30 but don't know what it does....
Heres where the problem came ...it erased all my other sounds loaded, when all i wanted to do was add to them, and assign those 4 chopped sounds to 4 bottom pads in the "A" bank

To get around it, I loaded the sound 4 times, assigning it to each individual pad, A01, A02, A03, A04 and just edited / trimmed Each sound/pad like I wanted it. I know thats the Cheating way but I got the result I wanted and kept my sounds already loaded..

So my question is, say you have sounds already loaded and you want to Chop up a sample and ADD to your present sounds and ASsign the "Chopped Suey" to say your B bank....4 pads...whats the best way?
And also, when you Trim your zones, say start and end points, does it stay that way after you edit them ? or do the start and end points default to the original setting when you hit [ZONE]--open Window--[4 ZONES]---close...
Confusing?...

THanks for your time..

"assign/create new pgm"? Choose "no". Then manually assign the sounds as you please. It confused the hell outta me a few times. The end margin leaves a little sound at the end so you can chop it better when each sound is on it's own. For example, you may have chopped too much tail off part 1 because part 2 started at that point. Gives you more control over how the samples overlap in my experience.

Set the markers where you want em, hit edit and select create new sound and then assign as needed. You can remove the loop points after.

I'm a bit confused as to what your question is for some reason. Must be monday afternoon at work :?

Ha ha haa....yeah I feel that monday thing...Confused? maybe but you answered my questions. Chosing No will give me control over where I assigne the newley edited sound correct? Next question is where do I go
from the Zone or Edit screen to assign the chopped, Trimmed sample?
Params? I will also check the manual when I get home, but for the most part you answered 90% of what I wanted to know. Thanks

Hit shift & program and then select drum1/2/whatever, hit the pad you want it on and turn the jog wheel till you get what you want on there. It'll automatically be in the assign screen. Flip between the options above the F keys to do different stuff to the sound.

That should be answered 100% I reckon.

Should prolly be in the 2000 Forum though dude.

Have fun.

New chopped programs autmoatically occupy drum1.

The manual will tell you that.

Maunally move your new program to another drum
and place your original program back to drum 1.

You don't have to reload anything.

Then record same seq, different track w/ the new chopped program.
