got this for peanuts and put it pon the platter



got amped cuase i had been subconciously looking for it

phattest of the cornbread-fed fat-assed bass lines, anyone know what synth they used? this bounce style supposedly influenced what Roger Troutman was to do in the 80's!

first heard this joint on the Jazzy Jay basement intro on 'Scratch,' wasn't sure what it was called even tho i clocked the song credits at the end, picked up the plate couple months ago and got geeked when i heard the bass, that i recognized from the movie

the point of my post, besides the bass question, is does anyone know if this is kind of rare or not even? it went #5 R&B in 1980 but it was like, a fluke hit ya feel me. did these cats put out any other singles you've heard of, albums? allmusic.com relegated their catelog to just the compiltations their chit appeared on, that's why i ask. thanks to any funk katz who be knowing!

not very rare around my area I got about 4-5 copies!

dope cut for sure i play it about once a week at my gigs and it still be rockin sh!t, as for it being rare, i dont think so , but yeah i thnk it was a one hit wonder, i dont remeber hearing anything else from them.

as far as instruments used , i dont kow? i just know it got that funk. and it be rocking the floor, as long as people dance and i'm playin the vinyl thats all i care , really. there's no feelin like seeing people on the floor grooving to a hit. a hit.... and knowing its a" record"..... thats maken them get down to it.

Most of the funk records I've heard from the 80's have basslines like that. I've even heard that exact melody in a couple of other songs before.

right, they was copping each other's grooves all the time especially the disco-funk cats

beat conducta, if that bass sound is real common would you happen know what synth they used?

but these pretty much have that sound i think , i may be wrong but i like to mix 80's by basslines sometime and these kinda hit the same in the area tho.

tic toc you got the ep on ram horn cuase this record only came out on brunswick label every thing else seems to be a more recent remix or repress,
i have the brunswick label too, but i anint never seen it on anything else and like i said the Ep is on RAM horn records.

whats the label it's on? just curious. i didnt know they put it out on another.

the original first pressing, the one I have is on Brunswick.

But the label is white with black writing.

Vaughan Mason did a couple of singles on Salsoul in the early '80s but his only other big success was one of the early house records .... "Break 4 Love" by Raze.

WAS THAT HIM, I NEVER KNEW THAT, i've never check'd but that track dont sound like him tho. i got a rca pressin of that raze i think it was rca or capitol one of those i just know its red. hey wasnt that reocrd out around 86 -87 was it out over sea's first.? i remeber when that record came out it was like in the summertime maybe late spring even.

i never seen one of those, it the same version tho right

I have an album on Salsoul by Vaughn Mason and Butch Deyo. It has a lot of 808 on it. A pretty decent album. It came out after Bounce, Rock and Jammin' Big Guitar but before his Raze stuff.
