I am going to buy an mpc1000 in a few weeks,
I will most likely buy one of the newer model mpc1000 v2 I saw some on ebay with the 128 upgrade installed and with a black color scheme for around $1000- do you guys think that's a fair price?- what would I pay for a normal colored mpc with the 128 upgrade? I can always take those side panels off and spray paint them or something, I’d rather get the all black but not if the other one is much cheaper.

Also I'm curious about the hard drive ability, where can I find info about it, I saw a tutorial on how to install one and it looked pretty simple. I just don't know what kind I can get (brand name/type/size) - how much they cost - and where I can get them.
Can anyone fill me in please?

Also does the hard drive act as an alternative to the compact flash cards?
To my understanding I would load all the samples I have on my computer right to the mpc hard drive via usb and then when working with the mpc load them into the 128 flash memory while working with them- is that correct?

Oh also I have heard there are dvd tutorials for working with the mpc1000- I think that’s an awesome idea and I was wondering where I can find some?

Other then these questions I am really excited to get the mpc, I just sprung for an access virus KC and now I need a bad ass drum machine/midi sequencer to go with it

$1000 is what they are just about going for brand new out the store. if you see it for that price on ebay, i wouldn't get it from ebay.
and they are being sold with a rebate to get the 128mb RAM for free. also they are coming with the HDM10 standard.

there is a sticky with all hard drive make and models that have been tested by forum members, at the top of the 1k section.

that is correct. you can download the manual from akai's website to find out exactly how to load/save. the hard drive is not to replace the CF card, it's to add flexibility to the mpc. while keeping all files on the mpc's internal hard drive, you can use the CF card to go from one machine to another without bringing your mpc with you.

a DVD is being worked on.

it would also do you good to search and read the 1k section. you would also want to read the sticky about different CF cards and take a look at the videos that was done. also a sticky.

where can I find a new black mpc1000 with 128 rebate and hard drive?
I don't see it on akais website or in any stores

it's not going to come with the hard drive. the HDM10 is not a hard drive. it's a tray/adapter for the hard drive. you can buy the hard drive anywhere. as far as where to buy the blk 1k, you can either order it from akai directly or call around your local stores to see if they have them in stock yet.

the rebate is here. it has an expired date on it but akai put these rebates out all the time.
