...just wondering if you can LAYER 2 diffrent kicks and filter them seperatly.........u cant on the 2500 but on the 2000 and xl their is the simult option that is key in layering drums.....just wondering if the 1000 has the ability to trigger 2 pads with the hit of only one........

Thanks

the 1k is pretty much the same as the 2500, so no, the filtering is per pad, not per sample.

haven't tried to filter separately on the 1k yet but here is a work around to that. filter the kick the way you want it and then resample that kick and layer it with the kick you want and now you have exactly what you just asked for.

it's harder to tweak things quickly that way though it does work.

i know it doesn't take me that long at all to do that. if a person knows what they are doing, they could do that in no time.

yeah i know that's true, but 'tweak-resample-test' is longer than 'tweak-test'. :D

On my 2000 simult was soooooooo much better because I didnt have to resample again if I didnt like the filter . with the 2000 it just played both pads at the same time so you could filter seperate samples and layer them together making it much quicker to tweek your drums in my opinion.

So anyone else layer their drums a diffrent way then filtering then resampling?

you could just put the layers you want each on their own pad, then just program the patteren you want using 1 of the kicks, then when you got the pattern how you want it, copy that kick track to two other tracks, then STEP EDIT and highlight all the events on the other tracks and change the pad.

The drawbacks are that the layers end up on different tracks, but this could be a plus depending on what you gonna do. Also, obviosuly when you are laying the kick down you have to do it with only 1 of the layers.

After typin it out it seems like a lot of work, but it's not as bad as it sounds. I like the resampling technique sparq was talking about too, but I prefer to be able to easily go back and adjust the filter settings depending on how the song evolves as I add more stuff.

That solution would be good except the 1k is not consistently sample-accurate and you might hear weird changes in the kick sound as the samples line up differently causing phasing.

yup.

i still like it better than resampling cause i always feel like i want change the filter settings up until the last minute personally.

but yeah, the phasing issue does become more audible when you layer tracks like that.

its odd.
you can do seperate velocity controlled filter settings per layer, but you cant set different filters per layer. :?

its a shame, but theres always a work around.....
