drum samples

I was wondering where some of you guys get your drum samples from? I purchased some sounds from Tutor. They were ok. I'm looking for something different. I want the drums i hear on records from Pharoah Monch, Beatminers, Beatnuts, Dre, Quik, T-Mix etc... Any help is appreciated.

Y not chop your own drums? Y not get creative and layer the sounds that u chop to make your own drum sounds? Y do u want to pay money for samples? Y dont you use the google search? Y dont u buy off ebay if you realy want to spend money on samples?

Thanks for taking the time out to respond. I don't have any knowledge of creating or layering drums. Maybe now would be a good time to learn. Peace.

Well what kind of MPC u got Ill help u out right now

Good lookin' out, Jacpot. I have the 2000xl.

Aight first thing way to start off is go buy some old records and listen out for drum breaks. (The part on the soung where only the percussion plays)

Then from thier what u need to do is sample the whole break and in the trim mode on your mpc zone the sample into chops. That bassically means chop out the kick, snare, hat, crash etc. Now when u are done dont create a new program. Once your all zoned out then go into the program screen and assign the drums to whatever pads u want.

When I first started off, I would chop the drums off of new hip hop records like dre or kanye since their easy to chop up. I would like chop the kicks and save them to the mpc.

Once u master chopping you can start eq'ing and layering your drums.

Since your turntable is hooked up to a mixer and the mixer goes into the mpc, you can alter the sounds before they go into the mpc and that is simply eq'ing. If you want your kicks to BANG then turn the bass up on the mixer before you sample the kick into the mpc.

If you want your snares to CRACK then turn the highs up on the mixer.

Layering is when u take two sounds and play them at the same time.

sample two kicks then assign them to different pads on the mpc. Then in the program screen change the setting to simul and u can play up to 3 pads at one time when u hit only 1 pad. That adds depth and thump to your drums..

play around with layering different drums and you can get your own SIGNITURE drum sounds

These are just bassics to get you started
