VIDEO TUTORIAL!!!Mpc 2kxl,motif rack,midi controller,mixer

Alrght, thanks for responding...here's how I have things so you can better understand.

I have a 6 track mixer (1+2 by themselves and 3/4+5/6 as two) I also have a control room L/R out, headphones slot, and a L/R main out.
I have my 1/4" out of my MPC to the Line 1
I have my soundcard to Line 2
I have my Synth rack to Line 3 (L)
I have my monitors to the Main outs.
I have a 1/4" cable from my stereo out of my MPC to my Input on my soundcard (That's how I began tracking out my beat) This allowed me to track out just the sounds on my MPC but not those from my Synth. After reading your response I tried putting the main out from my mixer to my soundcard but it didnt work. I have viewed to video over and over, but it doesnt really specify these settings as much as the MIDI. Sorry to be an annoyance. I hope this can help you understand my setup and in turn help me out. Nevermind, I got it now...it had to go into my instrument input on my soundcard rather than the line inputs. Thanks.

Hey there im trying to figure out what is the cheapest way to connect both my mpc and motif into my computer, (which uses reason software) and be able to hear the sounds of both the mpc and motif, then be able to edit or add sound effects on each individual tracks. I noticed you used a m-audio soundcard thru firewire. Do I need a audio interphase or how does the sound card work. which is the cheapest route.

After months of fiddling and trying different things I have finally figured it out. All you have to do is it run the midi cables from the Akai midi output A or B in the case of 2 boards to the Midi ins on the keyboards. After this just check the device number on the keyboard. Say keyboard on is device id 17 for instance then back on the akai select an empty track or at least this is what I do and change the Pgm number to the desired tone number in the bank on the keyboard. If it is a GM tone 1 through 128 should be the same while on other banks if the tone number starts on zero then the pgm number will have to be one. So in other words the pgm number for those banks will always be one higher. Ok from there in the bottom left corner where drum is located the track must be changed from a drum track to a midi track and just assign the particular track to the device id number. There you have it folk any problems email me at [email protected]. I have also heard that one should be able to switch the banks in the keyboard from the akai settings. I haven't figured out that one as yet I will let you guys know as soon as I do

THis was prolly the most helpful thing ive seen, very clear, thank-you. Just to clarify, it looked like you had 2 audio cables going from both your mpc and ur rack. So on the mixer, each of these were one channels correct? thanks man... sorry im one of those newbs u was talking bout...

No my MPC and my motif are on seprate channels, watch the vid again sllowly....

What you do is mix your MPC sounds in the MPC and then have one output going into the mixer to adjust balance between your MPC and the Motif correct? and then do the same w/ the motif?

Now to get your sound modules and MPC to all sound when you are working w/ midi... do you need to have a mixer? Do you need to have a sound card? either or? none?

I suggest all you pros SUGGEST THIS instead of just getting frustrated. If they cant spent 40 bucks they stole the MPC and should be hobbled!
