yeah that works, but also keep in mind you might have to filter some bottom end off, or eq some frequencies so those layered kicks dont create some competing frequencies..........sometimes you do sometimes you dont.
Recycle is a good answer. Chop it up using recycle. Then export it using the mpc program export. This will give you a sequence with the same groove as the break and automatically play the break chops in the same order so you have the original break intact.
Then go to the hits you want to beef up. Layer under those using the similtaneous function on the mpc. Becuase you have each hit chopped to individual hits, you can still keep those hits inplace so you dont loose the essence of the break, but you can filter out some bottom or top end and place your other hits exactly where they need to be in the sequence. This helps to avoid problems of getting your layered hits to hit at the right time. ya know?
.
even though you are chopping up the break into individaul hits, does not mean you have to rearrange the break. You can keep the break the same. You have more control because you can mess with each hit. alot of times you can just loose the original kicks and put in your own, and just layer a hihat from the break over it; and it will have the same feel, just beefier.
anyway around it, if you use recycle, you can layer under the OG break, or you can replace all the hits with your own sounds. Becuase you used recycle and the mpc export function you can maintain the origianl groove of the break. youll be makin it your own because you use your ownsounds, but its will be nice cause it has that groove of the original break.
