Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By beatmachine202 Fri Feb 10, 2006 12:56 am
so i have the mpc2000xl sync'ed with protools, so far i can get protools to control the mpc and all that when i hit play in protools it plays with the mpc. but when i try to record seprate instrument tracks nothing comes up the midi notes dont show up on the screen and im pretty sure i have everything hooked right from my mbox to the mpc.
i followed the instructions on the tutorial posted using cubase since its basically the same
im syncing with the MTC, frame rate at 25 MMC turned on to recieve in the mpc and the mbox recognizes the mpc and is enabled to use the midi beat clock and MTC ,but maybe im doing something wrong any feedback would be apreciated thanks again :D :D

"when i try to record seprate instrument tracks nothing comes up the midi notes"

Why try to record midi when Protools was obviously designed to record audio? It seems like it would be easier to just load the MPC's midi file in Protools using a "File/Load" function.

damnit what?!, im just asking a simple question no need to get your panites in a bunch.i used the search button to maybe find a answer or a post from someone with a similar problem but no luck i followed all the instructions in the video tutorial then i tried to do it like it says in the manual and the notes show up but when i try to record another instrument on another track the first initial track gets f*cked up.

Try multi tracking go to midi on your mpc and higlight midi and hit the open window button and go to multi tracking, that should work play with that I'm having similar probs with my set up

strictly out of curiousity...why is it youre trying to record the midi data that youve already sequenced in one sequencer into another sequencer?

and why not just save the sequence to a disk and transfer it into PT and save yourself the time of trying to re-record the midi data again?

look all i want to do is track out my beats into protools and seperate each instrument on the beat for editing and mixing i want to be able to cut and paste stuff around as i see fit

I used to use both the mpc and PT to sequence midi data but never in the way that it appears to be being used in this case...

I would sequence all drums and samples in the MPC and track that into PT(audio, not midi) and sequence any intstruments(keys, bass, synths, etc.) within PT
