ok i just installed a internal zip drive into my mpc 2G XL, because my scsi port got blown by someone pullin the scsi cord out when it was on. anyways yeah when i go to load it reads ATAPI and thats correct but when i pop a disk in its reads it and then give me this message "ERROR at 0000:BDF7"
and then after that it goes to a screen with hella number and letter combos and i cant get out of it unless i shut down and restart the mpc. now there is one thing that i may have done wrong that i suspect, i tryed to connect the IDE cable to the mpc mother board, but it wouldnt fit correctly onto the mother board because on the IDE cable there is one hole covered so i made a hole on the cable. on the zip and majority of computer parts there is one pin in the middle that is never their that would allow the male and female to connect ya know, but on the mpc mother board all pins are their, and so thats why i pop'd a hole in the covered hole to hook it up. would that be my prob or is that not it? could it be OS upgrade? mine has 1.07. can anybody kick some knowledge to me on this? thanx

it's kinda hard to get a real response involving complicated zip problems...
i had a drive that would come up but said "not ready!"
and i asked for like 2 weeks and got nuskins.
good luck chief.
i would suggest trying the new OS and then getting a new cable if
that doesnt work.

The minute u siad u started making holes I started thinking the worst.

Anything that fits shouldn't have to forced. Read the tutorial on the site for Zip installation. Read through the steps...Can you say ' Yes I did that' to all the steps? If you cant, you didnt follow the steps properly and you have probably messed things up somewhere along the line of your attempted 'Mr Fix It'.

I put my Zip drive in, and I dont remember making holes like the one you mentioned. Read the tutorial

You can buy IDE cables with all the holes open for very cheap from any PC store.. You should get another cable instead of rigging a data cable like that. Don't do it again or your MPC will go on strike like RALPHS.

Me, I had to rig my power cable for my internal 250 but I knew what I was doing and which wires went where..

Check my links below and download the newest OS.
