Just realized you can't "spread the keys" using the 1K

Being that I'm only an intermediate MPC user, and quite wet behind the ears on MIDI operation...I found that the was no way to "Spread The MIDI Keyboard" using the 1000 and a MIDI keyboard.

Meaning: You can't take the sounds from the MPC 1000 and then play them as notes on your MIDI keyboard. You can only control the MIDI keyboard with the sounds it has in it or the sounds from another module.

That sucks

I know you can spread the keys using the MPC 4000 (Not sure if you can do that with 2000XL or 2500, or any other MPC for that matter)

All those damn sounds I have inside that thing (Hard Drive), I would have to play them as notes on the pads only....or....use fruity loops with the MIDI keyboard. Unless....somebody knows something else

there is a blank melodic PGM running around that will allow you to play the samples across the keys as if it was a keygroup. No there is no auto chromatic funtion on the 1k, but there are workaround. You also have 16 levels which is a little diffrent, but it will pitch a sample up and down the pads for you. But what you wan't can be done it will just take a little work on your part.

hi there,
the MPC4k i based on akai rack sampler engine, and can assign midi key zones to samples.
other MPC machines assign a midi note to each pad instead. with 4 banks of 16 pads you get 64 midi notes/program. it takes longer to setup a multisampled sound, but it works! I've made a decent Fender Rhodes program that way, and there's a guy on this forum that has both Rhodes & Wulitzer multisamples for free to download.
dive into the machine and make your own multisamples, it's fun!

did you also realise there is a manual in the box when you opened it an hour ago?
next time do a search before posting...the answer is there

what you call "speading the keys" is mapping samples chromatically which you can do on the MPC1000, it just requires to read the fucqing manual...and to experiment a little bit using your imagination.
