I agree you'd make a good beta tester (even though you usually read the manual after working with your gear).

on a serious note J, why don't you ask your connects out in japan to see if you can make that happen?

They are really not my connects but my wife's connects. I think I will ask her to call them but I have a feeling that they will say no.....

I agree, once the bugs get fixed, it'll be something else. I also agree that it's counterproductive to say that the OS is currently unusable because of the bugs - I'm working with it, and I'm happy.

HOWEVER, to deny that there is bugs in the new OS is just silly.

Since upgrading, I have experienced the following situations:

- after several slices and mapping to new programs, and working with the attack and delay settings for the samples in the program, I am no longer able to enter the "trim" window. I don't know why - I can enter any other window, but if I hit the "mode" button, causing it to flash, then hit pad 6 for the 'trim' window, nothing happens. The 'mode' button stops blinking, as though it's entered the 'trim' window, but the screen still shows the 'main' screen. I can try it as many times as I want, but the only way to get back into the 'trim' window is to reboot the MPC. This has happened twice.

- I don't remember exactly what I did in advance, but when I switched to the trim window, every text entry in the display showed garbage, as though the MPC was reading from a random section of memory instead of the character map... just like, digital noise in all the text fields. Immediately following was a hex dump of memory and a kernel panic - I don't remember the exact wording of the error, but it was immediately recognizeable (I'm a unix admin for a living) as a low-level operating system crash. This happened once.

- I was working in the program window, though I don't remember what I was doing, when the MPC hung. Completely unresponsive. Nothing I could do but reboot.

I've only used the machine maybe six or seven hours since upgrading to the 2.1 OS, and I have witnessed three "crash" bugs that I never saw in 200+ hours with the 1.07 OS.

Please, don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Akai here - hell, I sent them a thank-you note when the 2.10 OS was released, and I'm very, very happy that there is ongoing development on this machine!! However, to put our heads in the sand and say that anyone who reports bugs is a whining sissy... that's just stupid. If the bugs are going to get fixed, we need solid, professional-level bug reports. If you see an error, write down *everything* you did to cause that error, and post it here or send it to [email protected] - hopefully someone will read it and file it.

LOOK, i have not run into a single bug that has impeded me from working on my mpc 1000. i have finished 3 songs since the os dropped and started maybe 15.

WE DONT NEED TO START NEW POSTS BITCHING ABOUT WHEN SOME BUG FREE OS IS COMING OUT.

please, please please tell me what bug is preventing you from working right now. please.

i agree with you antonym when will it stop? were is the patience in learing? why must we always have something new, better, fresher, another colour maybe will increase my production? yeah when i get the os 2.666 i will make dope ass beats..... :D

again and again people complaining of what they have, instead of using what they have.

the grass has never been greener on the other side....

learn the skills by focusing in what you have in front of you and you'll be suprised…

i couldn't agree more with that.
Also better to email akai directly to make sure they get the info. (they might not see it on the forum.)
