anyways another one of my wild theories, is the blue version will come standard with 32meg ram and 8 balanced output channels..yeahhhhh right! YOU WISH!

damn....that would be hot if the new blue one had burning software in it and could be upgraded to 128megs!....but if i know akai like i know akai...that won't happen!

Nope. It's the same machine in blue paint. That's the only difference. I called musiciansfriend and they told me that Akai promised a delivery date of 1/02/04, but theyre having some kind of trouble with shipments, so theyre gonna be available by the last week of January. I went to my local shop and they said they were not planning on getting any blue ones. Maybe it was just a ploy to get me to buy the gray box. The shipment dates coincide with those of the MPC1000.

As for that refurb issue, again I said that I couldn't say if it was true or not only that it was the rumor I heard.
However, I could see it being possible regardless of what MPC 3000 may think. I use to work for Sony (Playstation 2) and I personally shipped out refurbs daily. First of all not all the units returned were refurbs but if you sent your shit in and it came back minus the custom stickers and/or artwork designs that were on it when it went out. REFURB! ! That little white box that said with the word Playstation across it REFURB! Those are facts!! Again the rumor about Akai selling refurbs with a paint job is not that hard to believe. Not necessarily true but hey! If I have facts I'll present them as such anything else I'll post accordingly.

There is a 1.14c. It's supposed to be a fix for people with the Zip 100 built in. I got a Zip 250 in mine and havn't seen any difference since I upgraded to the "c" version.

Casio SK-5! Nice!

I am about to buy my first MPC, and I must admit I'd prefer a grey one, sad as it is I guess it's because I used to use an S900. Will the grey ones be appearing on Ebay now labelled 'old skool'? :D

they should be labeled "old skool" in fact, in the perfect world the next big name producer will have an interview along the lines of:

"yeah, i use an mpc2000, but only the non-xl version, and i dont use operating system 1.72. im old skool, i only use operating system 1.52." :)

oh, by the way, my sk-5 is stolen...
well not like i actually broke in to someone's house and stole it, but someone loaned it to me and...well...its a sk-5...even if im not using it, i still need to use it...(any cats from the 80s whoever used em will know what i mean).
