mpd16 assigning the slider

hopefully i am posting this in the right place, i don't want to get flamed, but here is my problem, my mpc went down, (some pads aren't working and the screen has lines through it) so i purchased an mpd16 until i can get my pockets right and get it fixed, got a good deal for a hundred bucks so i said what the hell, i have connect the mpd to the triton via the midi ports and i can play the triton using the pads and record, but i can't use the slider to control the mixer in the triton, or effects in triton, i have pro tools and if i move a fader in pro tools the faders in the triton reflect what i am doing but for some reason i can't get it to work, maybe someone here knows what i am missing, please i am hurt already without my mp, and trying this with the triton is a pain.....any assistance would be greatly appreciated...........thanks in advance...
