when do you consider your ready to register for ascsp or w/e

Both ascap and bmi miss marks, but the one thing you need to do is fill out a form for a writer and producer... The reason for that is say if you help an artist with his rhymes ( maybe you help write the hook)... You want to get credit for that and get paid feel me....

so i shold fill out the writer form and producer form on bmi when i register.

wat are you guys out there registered too.

Fill out forms for Writer and Publisher.. those are the only two distinctions they make.. SO if u get publishing on a cut.. they pay the publisher seperately from the writer's share.

I'm w/ASCAP and they are cool.. plus i they have these ASCAPlus awards where the give out a few dollars to peeps they think are promising.. i got an increase last yr ..it aint alot.. a couple hundred dollars sure helps w/session engineer fees.

Usually they won't give u full membership unless u tell them u r about to get a song released.. in my case it was an indie record w/natl distribution..then i got a couple placements in soaps that paid aight and ascap paid them w/no problem.

How'd the soaps placements come about? Through ASCAP?

MY cowriter has a relationship w/ a publisher "HeavyHitters".. but i dont use it for songs i wanna keep cause she reams u on taking all publishing and all rights to film/tv for the song forever.. but for stuff we are'nt gonna shop and wanna sell its cool.. with a 2way split i've prob made about $700 off a song i had no idea what to do with...
