even if there is a xl my guess is it'd still have to fiit inside the same chasis, hence they would prolly use the same pad design..lets hope they beef it up a lil..

as a follow note: I did some beats/drummin last night and the 2 repaired pads are actually more sensitive than the others..I may go back in and re tweak them all again at some stage

I doubt it will be a 1kxl, it would have to cost around the same and they would have to add more of the 25k features 2 it which would not be cost effective considering how much the 1k has already at its price. However with that said I could see them disconinuing the 1k and saling a 1kxl with a tilt screen and the hardrive and ram installed, but once again real close to a 25k.

An MPC 1000XL with a standard hard drive, memory (many dealers are already throwing in the memory for free), and an adjustable screen..is no more close to a 2500 than the standard MPC 1000.

I could see them discontinue the 1000 like they did the 2000 to create an XL model...hopefully without cheap pads. I am going to report Akai to Consumer Reports for taking your money the way they have

you could try, altho I thought that guy ended up with full velocity?..to me the alumin foil would conduct too much perhaps?...I would just get all your broken pieces of "carbon" and glue them together on a piece of paper as in my first post..or you could try sourcing some similar material..

using foil makes it almost always full velocity.

i tried to use my remaining pieces of "carbon" but they wouldn't trigger no matter, so i settled for foil in the meantime.

and yes your idea of it conducting too much seems right. when the foil shifted as i hit the sensor i think it touched one of the screws that internally hold the pad in place. shorted my 1000 out and the screen went blank.

turned it off and back on, and everything seemed fine.
but yes its still sketchy nonetheless.

i want to try that circuit keypad repair kit next.
i'll post it up if i ever do.

yo pd, I would be carefull not to short it out again, you could fukk the whole unit!! pop it open and with some silicon glue put 4 dabs in each corner and glue in saome cardboard pieces instead? at least the silicon rubber comes off fairly easily...but yeah I'd give the foil a miss for sure!!!

It seems you guys are more interested in repairing your MPC than actually using it. Stop playing and get yourselves an MPC 2500
