Midi Madness! Please help.

I think I've read every post possible on midi here. So I apologize in advance for the exhausted topic.

I have an answer to my problem, but I can't find a work around or solution. Its like this:

I'm using MTC(midi time clock) to sync my MPC 2500 to my digi001(PT 6.7). The 2500 is slaved. It's sync'd. All the transport controls in Protools operate my sequence on my MPC. Great.

Here's where things get buggy:

-I layout a hi-hat track in 1/8.
-quantize
-sounds too robotic for my taste
-"step edit" the hi-hat and offset some events to make it sound more organic
-hit play on the MPC
-Sounds good. My heads nodding now.
-Press play in protools
-sounds like garbage and nothing like the work I did on the mpc
-check it again.....press play on the MPC.....sounds nice......press play in protools.....sounds terrible.

Now this only happens when I step edit. If the beat is perfectly quantized it sounds fine. I've read in a previous post that MTC isn't perfect, and that MMC will fix this problem. I have a 2500 though......no MMC...... sigh..... Is there a workaround for this? Can you slave protools to your MPC? Is there a better way to offset drum hits? Or am I stuck with perfectly quantized beats unless I pick up and MPC with MMC? This is killin me when it comes to making tracks. Please.....Anyone help.

did u set the tempo in protools to match the tempo on the mpc?

Try setting PT to sync to midi beat clock. the 2500 does not support MTC (midi time code).

My mistake. When I typed MTC I meant Midi beat clock. Thats my only option for syncing in Protools. Also, my only sync option for my 2500. I'm surprized that no one else is having this issue.

I have a 1000 and am experiencing the same issue. please let me know if you can figure this out...shit is holdin up my program
