Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By David Lang Sun Feb 12, 2006 6:48 pm
Hi,

I'm sure this is an easy question, but a search hasn't turned anything up. I use the MPC2000XL live, for playing back processed one-shot samples, usually several seconds long. One-shot samples are great - you trigger them, and they play to the end, no matter the length of the MIDI note. That way any delay 'tails' spill over to the next sequence. Thing is, when you stop a sequence midway, the sample continues playing to the end. This can be really annoying, as you have to wait till the sample ends before restarting the sequence. In my MPC4000, a one-shot sample can be aborted by hitting the stop button three times in quick succession. Is there a similar function on the MPC2000XL?

Thanks,

David

while the sample is playing go into the trim screen real quick and that will stop it. Takes some getting used to but after u do its pretty quick

you can set your one shots to "note off" and hold it through how long you want. then the sample wil stop when you press stop.

i was gonna say just go to the sample screen and that shuts everything off.
lol

oh...speaking of "note off", i do the exact same thing david does.
to edit my sequences, i used STEP. now...i go to the beginning of the measure and hit the pad where my one-shot is. here's the thing:
what does the D: mean?

i checked the manual and read what it said (Duration of NOTE ON), but i still don't really understand what that means.
all my one shots are set at 2.
should they be at 0?
what's the difference?

thanx,

Duration of note on means how long u want the note play out. Shorter values means shorter sample play out or "duration" Longer value means longer sample play out or "duration"

cool...i totally thought that...,
but...

why does the entire duration of my sample play out if the value of D on that sample is only D: 2 when i'm in step edit?

is something wrong?
is that suppose to happen?
this is buggin' the crap outta me

:?

I think the D only effects the sample if its set to note off

thanx brotha.

sorry if it's a dumb question.
i never mess around with the "note off"...but...
