8 outs or adat??

Which would yall recommend..i mean which is more versatile..im jus about ta get the 8 output expander but then saw the 4adt adat interface n hope i dont get the 8 output expander n then realise ina few months i shulda got the adat one??

if u have clean and expensive ads on your soundcard/mixer, i would get the analog board because i think the mpc sounds more powerful when sound is coming out of the stereo out. also with adat you re limited to 48hz/24bit... adat fits better in my studio because i dont have cash to spend on superb ads.. it would be a waste if u run the gorgious sound into crappy converters. the mpc4000 sounds really amazing

yeah man cheers for the advice..think ill go 4 the 8 outs..its more versatile..i gotta yamaha mg 16 /4 mixer 2 so it should work well 2geter eh?im recordin into cubase though a m-audio 192 delta soundcard..but hopin ta get a multitrack soon....appreciate ne suggestions yall got

Or would I have to move the 8 to the top slot, w/ the Adat going on the bottom ??

Not sure of the internal routing/room, and optimal placement....

Drumtrack....What exactly are "ads"... I had the same question as Darrenh2000 before i bought the analog outs. Now I found out that my mixer that I bought off of Ebay has some shorts in some of the channels. So sometimes I regret that I got the analog outs...but I truly love the sound.
One last question...... I don't have a DAW yet will I still be able to have full use of one with the analog outs?

He prolly meant "ADC's"....or Analog to Digital Converters.

Also, if you're gonna get the ADAT out, you'd better go ahead and simultaneously order the wordclock/SPDIF card if you don't already have it.....it makes a big difference when dumping if you have the digital signal sync'd to the wordclock of where it's going.....TRUSS!!

not so, you can use the ADAT input to clock to a digital wordclock source

Yes, you can add the ADAT board into the top slot and have both boards installed at the same time. But you can only output sound through one of them at a time - along with the Stereo Outputs. The ADAT board mirrors what's being sent through the Analog 8-Outs... i highly recommend both boards in your MPC as well.

Hey....Genius... .....I didn't say you COULDN'T do it without the wordclock card......you will however get better quality transfers from the 4K to your DAW of choice if you DO use an external wordclock sync. It's kind of a must if you are a perfectionist and demand the absolute best sound you can get from using the ADAT card.

Besides, you can't sync another digital wordclock to the ADAT...not a master clock like an Aardsync II or Lucid anyway. Granted, the ADAT signal does have a wordclock imbeded in the signal path, but this sync method is widely known for being quite unstable, hence the reason why master wordclocks were implemented in decent studios in the 1st place.

Hello:

Thant's not true. I use my adat card at 44.1khz,48 khz & 96khz with no problems. You just need to go into the global settings & make the proper changes.

I got the 8 out board because I run my sounds through an outboard mixer before bringing it into my DAW. If I didn't , I would probably go with the ADAT.
