Anyone use effects on breaks on the way in?

Does anyone use effects on breaks before they actually sample/chop in the mpc? Or do you sample them dry and add stuff later?

i often sample them into the sp404 first and then resample 3 files into the mpc- lofi lowpass, hifi mids, lofi highs.

then i chop.

i've only just recently started sampling breaks, actually.

gives a more crunhy raw sound

not to mention flexibility. esp w/ the low. i can rewrite the bassline. then the highs, i use for gloss. since both highs and lows are lofi, there is a crispy sound. then with the mids, i fill in what is necessary.

i NEVER loop samples stright from record though....i always chop. so bear that in mind.
