AT-3035 MIC, WHAT IS THIS?

Guyz,....this is prolly a newbie question, but i'm wondering.....

I just bought this mic (AT-3035) and it haves switches on it,....it says..

Lo-cut switch (80 Hz, 12 dB/octave) and 10 dB pad

WHAT IS THIS??? and HOw does it benefit me? Please help

Low cut, means that it cuts out or filters the low end of the sound spectrum at
80hz and below by 12 clicks. Meaning that mic rumble and so on should not be recorded. The pad lowers the available volume by 10 clicks.

That's a nice mic. AT makes very good stuff for the price. Very good quality and consistency. If you stick with them, you know what you're getting.
