Somebody should make a computer program that emulates...

the MPC1000 OS, so you could load up pgms & secs / projects (transferred from the 1000 via cf card), and then "track" your beats out directly in the computer, lossless... Wouldn't that have been cool? The fella that made Bluebox, do you think you could make anything like that?

I'd like to see more digital hardware go this way in the future; best of both worlds.

it would b good for mastering. they shld make some sorta mpc mastering/eq/fx tool, which emulates the os, but has xtra stuff like ability to add more than 2 fx, and proper eq's and record function, and i also deserve to win the lottery.....cant get everything u want. oh well

I think whoever wrote this program would have to be really carefull not to emulate too closely or they could end up getting sued by AKAI.

I am a software developer and I am very interested in writing this app. Please list the features that would be most important to you. Patch compatibility with the 1K is in there for sure. What else would you like?

Well... The most important thing is that it can read pgms and seqs, so I can "track" the beat out, lossless inside the computer. I'll do most of the composing on the MPC itself, so I don't know which other features I would need. What do you other guys think?

exactly. you should just be able to make a project folder w/ all your pgms, sounds and seqs. the pc program should just give you an option of "rendering each track to file." this would be particularly usefull for those of us who turn our songs into 1 big sequence.

rendering each track to file would be like doing it in acid. that'd be so damn cool. it'd save SO much time for tracking stuff out, too...it really only makes sense.

no need to emulate the effects or anything like that. just for tracking. it'd be so sweet.

The RS16X app for Mac is not the greatest. It does a lot of things right, but in my opinion it is the workflow of the MPC that makes it the _hit. The RS just does not have the fluidity of a real MPC. These things are at the top of my feature list for an MPC emulator.

- No mouse! All the features should be accessible by hitting keys.
- Recording. It's amazing how many samplers make you switch to another app to record.
- Tight support for the Trigger Finger and the Akai MIDI controller.
- Compatibility modes. Switch between 1000,2000,and 4000.

see i think that's asking for too much. we HAVE an mpc - why would we want the computer to emulate the actual composition process of the mpc?

i think more important is the simple "render each track to sep file" function. the rest we can do already.

... Or probably you just read my post But this is exactly what I had in mind, it doesn't have to emulate the entire OS, sorry that I formulated it a bit bad. When it comes to legal stuff: does anybody know if the writer of the Bluebox program had any legal issues with Akai?

But anywayz, jwalgran, let's say you made a program that could render each track to file:

- when you have first made the program, would it take much efforts to code a mac version as well?
- how much would you charge for the program?

Yeah, like Antonym said, this program "just" needs to be able to read *.prj/seq and export every track in the project to one wavefile. effects, pass filters and so on are not really necessary, cause any daw will do this 10x better...

It would be good to be able to drag and drop sequences into order on a visual sequencer (that looks something like reason, cubase, etc).
