2500 crashing while sampling

yesterday i was sampling some records and archiving the samples for later use. i found a whole bunch of useful stuff on a couple records and before i had a chance to save the 2500 froze. frustrated, i did it again. went back and sampled the same parts and again the mpc froze after sampling about the same amount of material. i left the studio, calmed down and came back and started sampling everything for a third time, this time saving as i went (which is totally annoying). luckily i saved because when i got to basically the same point in sampling it froze a third time, but i had saved everything... so i turned it off and on again, loaded all the samples back into ram, and kept sampling from there (saving after every few samples). it never froze again. does anyone have any idea why this would be happening? could it be my memory expansion? why would it always crash when the memory filled up to the same amount?

Mine never crashed when I filled the memory. It just wouldn't allow me to sample. Often it did jump to a different screen when I hit record.

my memory wasn't filled when this happened. and yeah i've had that jump to another screen when you hit record problem as well.

I have found problems with the MPC crashing when I got close to maxing out the memory when sampling. I also have problems with editing very large samples.

This has happened to me today. The 2500 froze while editing a sample.

It crashed because of your 100G hard drive amd Kingtson memory

Jahrome, do you think it really is because of the Kingston memory or are you just poking fun??
mine crashes on me from time when i'm editing a large sample, it's also crashed when i tried to save a large sample.

Honestly, I am not sure. But when it comes to using something this expensive...why save $50 and buy third party memory??

I knew you would come back with that answer. You mean..it works for most in these forums??

For me.....to spend $1000-$2000 for a piece of hardware..and then to attempt to save $50 by using third-party memory makes no sense at all. $50 whole dollars..when you have the potential to cause a malfunction a product that costs thousands??? And..it may void your warranty. It is illogical to even think about that as far as I am concerned.

But people are free to do what they want with their toy(s).....

Anyway I looked at your setup what do you think about the fantom and the pads and why do you have and mpc 2500 if you have the pads on the fantom just curious not trying to be funny. I was thinking about getting a fantom to add to my setup i need more sounds. I already have a 1000 mpc with a motif classic and a micron. i was thinking of selling the mpc and getting a fantom. As i get better with my motif i find that i really dont use the 1000 but i may keep for living room production when the girl is requesting my presence. Hollar back let me know whats up.

Do not sell your mpc for a fantom. If u got the motif y u need a fantom?

MPC is alot more than just pads

Yeh I know your right but the i was thinking of adding the rack xr for more sounds then i thought for the extra doe i might as well just get the keyboard. I guest its gear lust but sometimes new gear and inspire as well.
