Yep ... this is some thing to be aware of.
Fits in line with the point a I made above which I'll place here below again:
a) said MPC3000 files don't exceed the MPC60's memory limits.
Loading a 12bit word MPC60 sample into an MPC3000 causes it to be unpacked back into a 16 bit word space and; to become an MPC3000 sample.
So at the single sample level:
The 12 bit MPC60 sample word:
12 bit [XXXXXXXXXXXX]
Gets stretched out to:
An MPC3000 16 bit sample word:
16 bit [XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX]
The accumulation of unpacking each consecutive 12bit word into a 16bit bit will make the file bigger.
An MPC3000 tells you this on the screen when you're loading a *SND file that this may be the case.
At that point going back the other way into an MPC60 will cause the problem you have experienced.
The sample rate of MPC60 files loaded into the MPC3000 is not changed.
Instead the tuning of a loaded sample is set lower to match the difference in sample rate.
Hope this clears things up a bit.
Rohan.
