Boss DR-5

So while im saving up money for a 1000 or 2000xl do you guys think its wise to invest in a Boss DR-5. Theres one on ebay for 50 bucks. Ive searched the forums a bit and people say its not bad to start with. I was hoping I coulkd get some feedback from the rest of you cats. Tnaks for the help.

the dr5 is GOOD little machine, I mean get it, use it as a sound module with your mpc and you will have BIG fun. Plus it's dope as a stand alone also. I've heard and MADE some HOT stuff on it when I bought one for my little brother a few years back, and that cheap also, u can't go wrong, go ahead and do it bro.

And when you get your mpc, use the dr5 as a sound module.
cheap alternative sound module vs all that rack sound mudule euipment.

Good combo.

I like cheap gear.. tell me more about this DR5::

built in samples, i assume? no user sampling?
much sound editing possibilities?
does it send/receive midi?
what do u like about it, just the basic sound is good and oldskool?

I wouldn't say "sound module w/ ur mpc" if it wasn't midi compatible.
sounds inside.
no sampling.
BEST drum machine in it's class.
fully midi compatible

old school, new school, it is whatever YOU make.

$50 dollars, and you need to ask, it's good, just get it. It will teach you ALOT before u end up getting the mpc.

I got one. Its what I started out with. Its a great lil machine, a real bang for your buck if you know what I mean

ha, don't worry.

its just one more thing to watch for on the local craigslist.

i live in canada anyway so its easier to buy from canada then they dont try to hit me with border duties and taxes.
