sample editing sofware for mac...

im looking to buy some editing software but need to know which way to go.

originally used pc, just switched over to mac G4.

im running osx and i know that recycle is in the beta stages of testing but will i be able to use it to edit samples and toss em back to the mpc when it does become available?

otherwise, what other choices should i be looking at?

i've heard of peak and a few others..

i just need a solid editor to tweak my samples before i toss 'em into my mpc2000xl.

Oh yeah. Since OSX was born, there is a helluva lot of free and good quaility software available. Keep your eyes open.

Ive been workin with my Mac & MPC setup for awhile. The best editing software by far is Peak though, followed by Reason. Below are some links that you may find useful.

I'm sure theres others that can be added to this list, but me personally i only use Recycle and Peak 4.

so will i be able to use recycle on the osx for pre-tweaking of my samples prior to loading them into the mpc? i still dont understand.... if i am going to be able to then that would be a good thing. i know now its impossible.. they said that i could run it in os9 classic but no luck. the thing freezes as soon as i try to run the program...

so i guess what i wanna know first is...will recycle be able to save a file, on osx, that i would be able to toss back into the mpc?

In Recycle you can export files as ".wav" which the MPC reads fine. Just make sure the file name is less than 8 characters long and u good homie. I'm running Recycle 2.1 in OS X, so far so good. And before that i used to run Recycle in Classic mode with no problems, maybe theres something ur not doing correctly. Recycle is an excellent program, escpecially in conjuction with Peak...try them out, and im sure you'll see what im sayin...hope this helps

Yeah. Recycle is amazing and a major time saver. I just haven't gotten around to trying the OSX Beta yet. I don't even bother with it in Classic either. 8 Characters is right on track. Peak is dope and so is Spark XL. I just use DSP Quattro. It's cheaper and very competitive with them both. Also check out some of the freebie VSTs. Fish Filets, Cyanide and h2o are ridiculous.
