can the 1000 do auto chromatic?

but are you not emulating the same thing? poor quality chipmunking of 1 note into a series of notes which can be played as an instrument from lowest to highest?

doesn't mean 16 levels is any good for melody. i never use it.

Autochromatic is similar to 16 levels:pitch (ie repitches your sample in semitone steps going up the pads) but also would/should include the following::

-re-assignment of the midi notes to go in ascending order up the pads

-mapping to banks A-D instead of just one

-proper operation of polyphony (which doesn't work for 16 levels last time i tried, one 'note off' cuts all playing notes)

ah. well when i said that "that's what 16 levels for" i was more referring to the "Auto" sense of the word, ie getting a series of notes at the push of a button, which seems to be what most people who are new to the mpc 1000 want.

multisamples are better anyway, and otherwise just use a chromatic pgm

16 levels don't touch on EVERY note.

Yeah, I'd rather have mulit's also. But for like deep filtered basslines the quality doesn't have to be pristine.

ok so i finally figured out how to use bluebox, but some how i dont think im doin the chromatic right? how do u guys do it?

Correct me if I´m wrong, but doesn´t the "make pads chromatic" -function in Bluebox just make the MIDI-notes chromatic, not the actual sound. You have to spread the samples to pads one by one to make it also sound chromatic. Or...?

thats what im guessin..but who knows, has anyone actually used it?

I thought there was a way to drag the sample to a range of notes... but i havent used it for a while.
