Directory Error When Saving?!

This device is evil...

Anybody else experience "directory error" when saving? Am i doing something wrong? Or is this a reported bug? Thx.

This happens once in a while. What i do then is create a new folder and save all the stuff in there. As soon as it's all safe in there, you can kill the broken folder to free up the space again.

During the save process it seems to be capturing some data but then just stops saving and displays that error message. When i try to play pads nothing was actually loaded.

I tried creating a folder but it still would not save the data...

I'll keep trying.

Even if the saving fails, you should still have all the data in your memory...you are talking about saving, ain't you?

Right. But because i haven't been able to save all my data, i've actually just had to leave my MP on at all times to avoid losing work. I may have figured out part of the problem though, looks like maybe one (or more) of the samples i was working with was bad or corrupt. This was from a flash card i bought of some cat on eBay that had pre-stored samples on there. I guess that's not the greatest idea. That sucks though, there were some cool sounds on there...

Have you ever run into bad or corrupt samples or files before? I would think this would cause a directory error to occur.

Never had a problem with that. But I think you would have noticed a corrupt file way before trying to save it again...perhaps already while trying to load it.

But some people here already reported errors while trying to load a sequence or program that saved fine before. I didn't experience that myself so far...

It seems like Akai could do a lot to improve on this OS. It will be interesting to see if subsequent releases or future models try to improve on some of this sh!t.

Are you using a HD and if u are ; are u using a akai approved HD. It seems people saving with a HD have problems especially if it is not an akai approved.

In a future OS, probably. New models, they will almost certainly have the same kind of problems in the first months. That's what it's like with high-tech equipment.

I kinda wondered hearing that the 2500 obviously has some of the EXACT same problems that had already been solved on the 1000... e.g. the unstable sequencer when triggering a lot of notes at once. Kinda embarassing that a 32 voice polyphonic sampler can't handle 32 notes at once...but anyway, shows that it is real hard to get a new piece of technology working right, and from what you hear they are having a busy time at Akai at the moment sorting out all the bugs that popped out

I am. The Hitachi 80G drive that was named on the website. I am finding some workarounds, but this OS still feels somewhat unstable to me.

i agree i have not had a problem with a wrong file or directory bu i am not running an HD. Jahrome said he hasn't had a problem and he is using a HD. I think a 40 GB approved HD.

I got the 40 GB approved Toshiba drive as well...but having the described errors anyway.

ive had this problem from time to time.

its always been when ive first created a folder and tried to save in it.

maybe happens one in 10 times when i do that.

all i do is resave to the folder and it works fine.

never had any probs loading back...
