Im tryin to buy a 8-16 track recorder. IT doesnt have to have that many channels on it. I dont want it to be a tape recorder and it has to be digital. Can anyone give me on any ideas what i should buy. I do not have 10 thousand bucks either. I need some suggestions. 1 more thing, if it has the cd burner already in it, that would be better.

I just copped the Roland VM-3100 pro Studio Package for $299 at Guitar Center.  It used to be over a $1000 but now their selling it real cheap because they need to get rid of them.  Check Sonicstate.com to get reviews and specs on it.  The mixer is digital and it comes with Logic and the card to hook it up to you're CPU.  So you will be able to record with your PC.  The sound is very clear.  And it has 8 mono channels and 2 stereo channels.  Great for a beatjunkie on a budget.  Can't beat the price.

They are many eight to sixteen track recorders out there. What's your price range? Here's a couple of options.

1. Akai DPS16. These were going for $1000 - $1200 if you can
   find one.

2. Roland 1880/1680/890/880EX. These range from $799 -
$1200. You made need to buy an FX card for the
1880/1680 which can be expensive unless you find them
   used.

3. Zoom 1266/1066. These range from $799 to $1000.

Personally I like the DPS16 but I haven't been able to find one since they've been discontinued. I currently own a Roland VSR880 eight track which is OK, for now.
