discouraging...oh! you mean like the price of the 2500!!!

now i understand.

If you make a profit using these pieces of gear, than how much thet cost is not an issue. As far as the MPC 2500..it costs $600 more than the 1000  And the pads do not break and need to be repaired with foil and glue

Only broke catz and kids living at home with momma are crying about prices. The 2500 is as cheap as any MPC ever released (half the price of the MPC 3000..cheaper than a maxed out MPC 2000/2000XL).

i got my mpc for 700. i'm happy, even if i had to fix my pads. it's like buying a semi decent car to begin with (and i'm not being as generous here as i could, given the mpc1000's capability as compared to price range) and then souping it up.

also - honestly, i don't believe that 95% of the peopel who post on these forums have made back the money they spent on mpcs alone, not to mention everything else. no way in hell.

also, i'd imagine that you probably aren't far off in your generalization of "broke catz" and kids living with their parents.

who do you think they were marketing the 1k to?

fortunately for those who are broke and who live under their dad's roof, they have DAMN good samplers which are easy enough to upgrade that a guy with no electrical training (only basic computer building) was able to fix his pads perfectly.

this would be me, by the way. again, i remind you - with a glue stick.

sounds ghetto? well think of it from the other way - the main complaint of the mpc1000 is bad pads. if bad pads can be fixed with glue stick, is it really a problem or an issue of user motivation?

i will henceforth post the following to anyone anyone bitching about 1k pads. strictly for laughs.

Well..if you get a summer job or a paper route you will have enough to purchase an MPC that won't break......yes, I think it is a problem if you spend $300 on an electronic product that breaks with normal use....

my mpc isn't broken, jahrome. and to date, neither of ours burns cds. luckily, i don't need mine to.

at this point the LAST thing i would upgrade in my studio is my mpc1000.

i got to say man, even if you are just ruffling feathers, you're being pretty petty. there's no need for it.

Burn CDs?? Who needs an MPC to burn CDs  But the 2500 will when Akai decides to release the OS which incorporates this function.

Your MPC isn't broke because you fixed it or you haven't put enough miles on it yet??

Yes, I am just clowning...but not doing anything more than practically every member in the forum bashing Akai for not releasing OS 2 sooner than.....

But you are probably right. I will quit bashing this cheap excuse for an MPC. The last you will hear from me about the cheap pads.

Maybe I deserve that.....but I was just having fun. I am sorry that I got you panties all in a bunch. You want some milk and cookies.....

I not the type of guy that sits up here and brags "I have an MPC 2500..and you can only afford to buy an MPC 1000...ha ha ha".......I am a gear-head..a nerd..an electronic geek..a businessman...just call be Slash Stewart in his prime :D I stay up in the forums for guys like you..it is so entertaining when I read your comments. I am really enjoying this.

As far as the 1000, there is nothing wrong with clowning it. Akai is lerking..hopefully that will take this to heart and improve the next batches of the 1000. It is a joke for you to have to glue your pads back together. Hell, I was just going to cop one myself..no chance.

Of course I will continue to browse the 1000 forum...as well as all the others. I like to stay up with all the talk about these pieces of gear. It helps with future business endeavors.

punchdrunk, I repectfully apologize for insulting the piece of gear that you spent numerous hours selling candy bars to purchase. I can see why you are emotionally attached to it. I talk shitz about the 2500. Not because it breaks when hitting the pads or what features that should have been added. I talk shitz about features that it is advertised to do but don't work as it should. As a consumer with big spending power, I have the right to let Akai have it.

Ok..back to the 1000.

So, in order to re-glue that pads back on, do you need sand paper to smooth the connections underneath? I know we are cutting expenses by doing this at home. But I hear Radio Shack has MPC 1000 replacement parts. I also hear that in place of the CF card, you can place 4x AA bateries in it to make it really portable. Reminds me of table top Pac Man...

Have a sense of humor...I did state that I quit playing..and I don't have anything to do outside of studying for my promotion exam..just taking a break

please stop being a dick. we have found out something valuable, and we really don't care if you disapprove.

meanwhile, all you're doing is making yourself look like a jackass who just can't stop.

now please take a hint and post someplace else instead of continuing to **** about a product which you dont even own.

Richard just happens to be my middle name

And whats wrong with talking about broken pads....and people thought I sound like I work for Akai. Now if I buy an MPC 1000 and tactfully clown Akai, would that make you happy??

Aren't you one of the ones that was whining for months about not having the new MPC 1000 OS??

And you are not thrashing Akai constantly for the workmanship of this product??

no, genius, if you actually knew how to read you'd see that i DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT, and therefor have no reason to complain.

hell if you're trying to be petty, let me play. i really don't give a damn, i know i'm a better producer than you are without even hearing your bullsh!t

there's nothing wrong about talking broken pads, but there IS something wrong with endlessly posting BS which you yourself know has NO constructive quality.

what does the os have to do with the pads?

 thats like 95% of your posts genius.
either you're telling people in the 1000 forum your so happy cause you have a 2500 and we dont, or you're in the 2500 forum crying about how your 2500 has bugs.

wow.
i really wish i payed alot more money for a model that has extra features that don't work. smart move. your parents must be proud.

You guys are funny. I really do mean that. Although you can fix your pads with glue, it is a reasonable request to ask that Akai improve the workman ship. Knowbody wants a product that will break just after the warranty expires and this includes the 2500.

No, I didn't say that I hate the MPC 1000. Its a machine. My hobby is buying expensive gear, never use it, and then talk about it in these forums. I work 8 hours a day, study 6 hours, sleep 6 hours, exercice recreation 2 hours..which leaves at least 2 hours on the internet/forums.

I am glad to know that you have read 95% of my posts. Its nice to know that you are a fan. I didn't pay alot of money for this MPC. I sold my own MPC 2000XL SE-3 for a pretty penny and replaced it with the 2500 for practically nothing. I found a home for my Limited Edition MPC 3000 as well. Mainly selling it while I can get top dollars for it.

The MPC 2500 has no more or less bugs than the MPC 1000. And the 1000 just received an OS update..so go figure. But for real...if you actually read my post, you would know that I brought some of the first 2500s available to consumers..and in fact expected plenty of bugs. Every MPC released in the past 8 years have had initial OS problems (only one for broken pads though). The only thing I didn't expect was 5 months later after the 2500s release..that there would be no OS. But..it is suppose to be here any moment now. Then, I will break it and report the problems I find in the 2500 forum.

And for the record...I don't think these toys (yes..most of us are using them as toys) are expensive. These MPCs cost about what I use to make in a week on eBay. (not bragging but speaking the truth.....well, you can take it as bragging if you want).

As far as the MPC 1000s OS....its here..it is what it is..and no that has nothing to do with the pads. I am pretty sure that there are plenty of people that are greatful for step by step instructions on how to glue the pads back together. But with most companies..if a product has a major pysical defect (and this is a major defect)..they RECALL the product. Its mighty big of you not to complain about your broken pads...but is it a concern..hell yes. Lets get Akai to RECALL the MPC 1000. I need them to fix this so I can get one for my son's 12 birthday. As it stands today, I know he will break it within a few months.

If you can actually read (reading between the lines...looking for contextual clues), you would know that my posts here are not intended to offer a solution or 'constructive quality'. My comments were/is said in jest...but a lot of truth is said in jest

PS...I have to kids that will out produce you.
