Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

it is called a workaround go in stepedit and adjust velocities or what ever . it is called producing do it. stop b1tching let akai fix the promised features then ask them to add more features. the 2500 won't make a sandwich for u why don't u send a e-mail to akai to b1tch about that. maybe they will add a vibrating pocket pussy then the MPC will be complete.

...word I guess other people are feeling me on this issue....I v wrote to akai expressing my concern but they never got back to me.....maybe if a bunch of people keep complaining they with put this feature in a future os....and trust me people when u have this feature u will save MAD TIME ...u wont have to resample .....u wont have to copy the track and go into step edit ...you wont have phasing issues ....it really was the key to my strong kicks ....I v found away around this but still would like to see it put back into the mpc's os.... dont get me wrong I love all the new features in the mpc 2500 but it just seem's **** up that I sell my mpc2000 for like 700 bucks and grab I a 2500 for much more and loose features.... someone wasent wearing their thinking helmet at akai!!!!

No because your not hitting all three pads at the same velocity......... Trust me man if you had used an xl or regular 2000 u know what I m talking about and u miss that **** like no tommorow

Name an MPC and I have owned it or used it..especially the 2000/2000XL.

But I am just messing around with you guys. There is nothing wrong with wanting that feature...but no use complaining or being concerned. What Akai took out..they replaced with quite a bit.

The timing of the 1k and 2.5k is not perfect, so the samples which are supposed to be stacked will end up being aligned slightly differently each time. leading to inconsistent sound due to phasing.

Also the velocity thing.

Maybe its not the 2.5Ks timing that's imperfect ???

bought my 2kXL in 1999. so i am not that new to an MPC. and i used a 2000 before that it was my friends. Not that new. i'm sorry i jumped the gun on the simu. feature just never used it much in the 2kxl.

Hey, my timing is usually alright 8)

But anyway I'm talking about notes that are on the same sequence tick.

Timing Correct..it does work.

yeah hang on, i used to do this and never had this problem. however, it may have been for this reason. in my experience this only happens if you're using multiple triggers of the same sample. never if you're using different files.

it's fun to sometimes hear phasing in releases by bigger names. there's a villain accelerate song where one of sixtoo's hats phase because he accidently had 2 of the same hat sample stacked on top of each other in his sequence. great song, no doubt, but it was kind of funny to hear.

word.......well I m glad after awhile people caught on to this post I knew other people out their were concerned....I guess multi filters seems to be a fair and reasonble request instead of the simult function.....

anyone knows if their is a simult or some type of feature like this on the 4000? maybe akai will take an example?

I experienced just the same lately on the 2500, I triggered a long phrase sample one time unaltered, and a second time filtered to give it a little more bass, both triggered at the same time, and you can hear the two phase with each other sometimes, then again on the next loop you don't. I find this kinda annoying.

I will try your tip and save the two in different files to see if that works. Would be great if it did.

Cheers,
Stilo.

actually stilo i was talking about 2 completely different sounds, like a vinyl kick and a 909 or something.

however, maybe if you resample the same file over again as you're saying, the phase will be gone.

i mean, people use low end theory w/ mpc1000s and 2500s so i imagine it should work. no phase there.

when i do what you're talking about, i always have resampled one of the files in lofi mode on my sp404. the resulting mix between lofi and normal sample is pretty good, no phase there either.

Yep, makes no different indeed if i separate it to two files. Seems I will really have to resample the boosted phrase to a new sample. It is only phasing like 1 out of 10 times after all, but even if nothing else is playing...

Right, that's what the 2500 could use as well - a decent function to resample to a lower sampling rate and maybe even bit rate... instead of that undefined "Bit Grunger" effect :)

Thanks for the input anyway!

Yes, I am talking about notes that are indeed already on the same tick.

That is what I am talking about, that is where the timing inaccuracy of the mpc will reveal itself. Over in the production forum (too lazy to link) someone is complaining about sync problems, and that is due to the inherent inaccuracy of the mpc.

Regarding the phasing comment about the same sample vs. different, yeah that makes sense; you can still get phasing between different samples but it doesn't sound 'as obvious', it would just sound like your combined hit has a slightly different tone each time. but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The sync problems have nothing to do what we are talking about here..I believe. I think that other thread was about using MIDI Clock sync and several things play a role into getthing multiple MIDI sequeners to sync correctly.

So, you are saying that when you place 2 samples on the same step..there is timing in-accuracies??

Right, that is what I'm sayin. But I'm basing it on evidence from tests other people have done, not myself. (Including evidence from my friend in Vancouver who spent a long time trying to slice up a long sustained sample and play the slices back at the original tempo--- you still get clicks between them because the mpc clock doesn't line em up perfectly.)

On that other thread, he didn't actually use midi, the mpc was just clocking itself and he recorded several passes of audio into soundforge. At least, that's how i interpret what he said.

I'm gonna go test this right now to make sure I'm not talking sh***. :)
