About the MoPhatt

Does anyone uses the Emu MoPhatt Synth together with his MPC?
I want to buy one to add some fresh sounds in my music.
Do the drums in it rock, is there some killer subbass and is the general quality of sound good for producing some ill ish?
They go for about 530Euro over here and i was just wondering if it is worth to invest in it?
Or should i just keep diggin and tracing expensive library recs?

Hmm, The drums are tight......Its got some nice basses init too. Its kinda hard to say how it will work for some1 else tho. What kinda music are you doing....It is very urban sounding....I wouldn't suggest you get it as your 1st and only module tho. Its more of a complimenting module

The knobs are cool tho...Very easy to use. Id get one if I had a listen to one and liked what it had to offer me PERSONALLY. (I've got one by the way )

I use the Mo'Phatt too. I like it. The sounds are really infinite on it. You can tweak them, link other sounds, diff filter options. Just alot of options to get what you need. But I agree with BRAVO. It really depends on what type of music you do. I also use the Proteus which has alot of nice sounds too. You can never have too many sounds kid.

mo phatt is corny as ****. sample out the habdfull of good sounds and return it. save your 300 extra dollars and get a motif rack offa eBay.

I got the MP7 which has the Mo Phatt sounds. The drums are nice, even though I don't use them much. It has some nice bass sounds too, including sub basses. I use it mostly to add basslines to my beats. Try out the MoPhatt at a music store and see if it is what you need. They got demo songs on the EMU website if you want to hear some of the sounds. It really depends on your opinion.

That's what i heard too. And the example on the Emu website sounds exactly like corny. I am making more experimental Hip-Hop influenced by peeps like Shadow or RJD2.
I was just wondering if the editing dept of the sounds lives up to it's promise. I do not know that Motif rack tho, what brand is that? (Sorry i am no gear freak)

You cant get a motif rack for that

@BRAVO, mo phatts go for about $400 on eBay, Motif racks are now $700-$800 since the ES came out, which is a **** steal for those bread and butter sounds.

@funky74 - just stay away from the mo phatt, especially if your liking shadow nad RJ2D, Motif rack is by Yamaha. And can be the only synth box you need along with your MPC and vinyl, plus its easy to use, I find the EMU racks a **** to use.

PS: I really hate to sound like I'm trying to make money (cause Im not), but if you want some of the best sounds form the MoPhatt I got a sample disk with MoPhatt, Roland XV5080, and korg MS2000 patches in .WAV for $10.

Im finding I dont really use my Mo'Phatt the way I should....So I might have to give the Motif a look.....Do a bit of research I think. Im still wrapped in my Trinity if the truth be known

Yeah, I was talking used prices, I didnt even know they still sell new MoPhatts.

I think you can only get em new if a store still has em.....Turbo Phatt is now the standard.

Yeah my boy is letting me borrow his Motif 6 and his Blue Mic while hes on vacation. I already did a full song with it, raps and everything. Lots of fun. Ill post the song when soundclick works.

And wasnt the TurboPhatt the older MoPhatt?

The Turbo Phatt is the expanded Mo Phatt....It has 6 outs plus Digital outs.
More voices...128 I think.

Have you used the Mo Phatt b4?

I owned one, and it had an XL Lead Rom in it, thats how I got the samples from it. I have no fear of buying something, sampling the worthy sounds from it (I think my first post here was what key to sample sound modules from) and returning it or reselling it on eBay.

530Euro is for a new on yeah. I have checked out that Motif on YAMAHA's site. I might just give it a try at a store over here. DOVESKI i will first check the mophatt at a store also if i can use some sounds. If i do than i will holla back for the disk if it's cool?
I was planning to get those extra outs or maybe the Turbo Phatt Bravo but the motif has 6 outs Std. so...
