Help me Understand 9th's opinion of Jay Dee (Filtering)

he used everything from RHODES keyboards (for bass)..mpc 3000, sp 1200 and even a Korg Triton..

you'll really NEVER know what he used for filters or for bass...

dude was a musical genius...

Dillas kicks and snares are insane. I have seen his recent setup in la and all he has is an mbox and his mpc with a microkorg and a korg drum machine. He makes his snares sound like no one elses. He compresses his kicks obviously and some other shit. But the only way to find out what he does is to have his drums analized by and audio expert. I know a few and they broke down one of dillas snare and they said they were layered filtered and compressed.

broke? lol he has pretty expensive gear in those pics it.. no mixing board suprises me...

the keyboard in the pic is a microkorg. He used on the stuff he's done in the past few years that are really synthetic sounding.

i dont think thats his studio... i think its his moms crib where he just had like pre production when his health was gettin really bad... not for sure though....but in know he stayed at his moms...

Well compared to the Dres of the world.

And its prtty crazy that he made alot of the album on Garageband, which isn't a bad software. It does have a piano roll to lay down notes to my little knowledge of it. (IM A PC USER!)

Whats the black joint between the 1200 and the 3k?
Looks like an ASR-X or something but I dont think thats it. They are way smaller.

On the broke/simple setup comment:

think about that this is his preproduction studio (at home).
Alchemist, for example, basicly has protools, the asr and the new moog with preset saving and midi...

When they really get an idea about some vintage keys or something else they'd want to use they'd just rent a studio.
Also that stonesthrow dilla pic shows madlibs crazy vintage gear setup dilla also "played in".
