2 month anniversary: MPC 2500 Feature request

MMC and MTC.

I can't understand why they left them off.

8. CD burning: Data back up and Audio CD recording
9. Screen Saver
10. Quantization: Place note shift back in the Timing Correct Menu
11. Recordable track mutes
12. Auto assign of samples to program upon loading
13. Auto Chromatic Assignment
14. Display levels when sampling 2500 outputs
15. Aksys Software for the 2500
16. Sample slice: generate sequence data for sliced samples (slightly different than Patched Phrase).
17. Better implementation of USB (pain in the azz plugging/un-plugging USB cables )

The MPC 2500 could be perfect with these added functions I can use the 2500 just fine without these functions....but having these functions will take it to another level.

Another feature request: animated level meters in the mixer section; it'd be helpful to know which pads are "active" (I don't have an organized methodology yet) so it's easy to assign individual outputs.

Right now I have to use step-edit, and remember the pads by heart, or write them down.

Plus I think it'd look pretty dope in addition to the usefulness.

Is #8 really true? Can you backup/burn data as well as audio? I'm stuck at work and won't be able to find out until this weekend. I downloaded the addendum but only saw "audio" mentioned.

Also, If I want to burn a sequence as an audio file onto cd do I first need to sample the seq via main outs (thus making it an audio file) to do so?

Ak.sys compatibility would be nice since they already have the code to implement some of it derived from the Z series and the MPC4000

ezratrice, my bad. The current OS allows audio burning. No burning of back-up data as far as I can tell (in all the excitement ).

Yes, if you want to burn a sequence as an audio file onto CD, you must sample the MPCs main outs making the sequence a .wav file.

As mentioned in other threads, the 4k has a z series sampling engine inside it.
These samplers are a completely different architecture to the MPCs like the 2500.
ak.sys has an interface built around that other architecture - keygroups etc etc.

Those other samplers have the capability to act as a USB slave and for the host computer to directly access their memory.

With the 2500 and 1k on the other hand you can only mount a storage device such as the memory card or the HD.

There may well be a very good reason that the USB screen precludes you from doing other things - eg their may be HW limitations that dictate that ak.sys like functionality may not even be possible.

Id love for them to implement something like that with the 2500 but am sceptical. Would be great to be proven wrong

i know wat u mean. but the new grid edit modes should help in that dept.

Well as we're talking about animations etc, i'd like to see the 4 band EQ with little virtual knobs (like the pan settings) instead of just text. It's probably just because i'm not used to it though

I really think that could be left out. Because the "recording" level does not change whatsoever if you turn the Record Gain or Main Level knobs. The MPC actually only copies WAV data from one place to another

Try resampling with the knobs turned all the way down...

Yeah thats good that they added that in the new OS. Because everytime I would demo this shyt in Guitar Center I was always upset because I didnt think this unit had this feature.

Its not a need but a want. I am aware that the gain/levels are not involved when the 2500 resamples itself. However, I just like to have a visual representation that the MPC is actually recording. It would be no labor to have the MPC show levels while it is resampling itself.
