what mode should i be in to layer my snares?

i'm doing my first beat and it's coming out better than expected but i noticed my snare sounds kinda thin..........so where should i start layering my drums?

i find that if I use the "freak mode" my snares sound real tight, bro.

If you push "SHIFT" push "PIE" and then "ICE CREAM", it puts you in Pie A La Mode.

i go to the sample page, then press list. Pick one of the snares you are using. Then back on the sample page press edit. Roll through the options till you get to combine ( ithink thats what it is, not in front of the mpc right now) You'll see something like this:

sample x 0db
sample x 0 db

scroll down to the second one and change it to the snare that you want to add to your existing one. Now looking like this:

sample x 0db
sample y 0db

now just adjust the volume(of each sample, from 0db to whatever) till you get it right, sometimes it takes me several tries until i get it just right, but you get the point.

There might be another way to do it, but this is my method.

can anybody drop suggestions for how to layer on an mpc 1000

cats make this so much harder than it is...

assign some samples to pads, either hit em when you want them to trigger in the sequence( who woulda thought) or enter em in step edit..

if you wanna layer another snare or kick or whatever over existing hits then just assign another sample to a pad and layer, tweak any samples that need to be tweaked and call it a day, its really not that hard. Yeah, you can assign several samples to be triggered by one pad but this isnt necessary to layer hits...

nah, it's not really. layering the way i explained isn't either, takes no time at all once you know what you're after.

Programs like Fruity loops and Acid are soo friggin easy, and there are lots of wack production "companies" online, usually with names like Iczy Blazin Bangerzz Entertainmeznt Inc. Using nothing but Fruity and the sounds that come with it. Just terrible.
I personally think music is a talent not a skill, and some things about it just can't be learned.

word, i often forget about fruity loops altogether, and some producers who "made it" and still suck imo.
