I read that this has happened to other people, but i just wanted to comment on it as well. I upgraded several mpc's to the new OS...using the same Compact Flash card to do the upgrading on all of them, and one particular machine just refuses to boot now. I had to roll it back to OS 1.7, and it works fine again. Anyone know exactly what's up with this? Anyone talked to Akai about this? :?

you are not saying exactly what is happening. all you're saying is it's not booting.

is it freezing? is it coming up with a blank screen???

It just comes up with a blank screen.

try it again and if it comes up with a blank screen again, you then have to turn it off and back on holding the erase button. that resets the mpc. and it will come back up with no problem.

i will try that. any particuilar cause of this problem that you know of? just something you have to do with some of them? the others were fine after the upgrade...just this one gave me problems.

I dont know why, who and how.

But with both M1K's I've upgraded both did the same thing, and I had to use the erase button to boot it back up. No problems since.

Probably just a quirk.

it's nothing wrong with the os file or your mpc's. it was doing that to some of the akai techs also. it's not a glitch. i don't know why it happens like that but like what was stated, by doing the "erase" thing, the mpc resets and the os will work.

yeah its mad this,
i switched os's (back and forth 1.07 <-> 2.10) four or five times recently to track a bug down, and found that the fifth time i got it to 2.10 the mpc screen went blank and i thought it wasnt booted up.

actually it had ,but this time the lcd had gone so contrasted that it appeared not to be on!

i adjusted the contrast once it occurred to me, and it was booted up all along....but sometimes it can be that it doesnt, hence needs the erase button on while power-up.
