Hello,

I'm trying to help my friend connect his MPC 2000XL to a M-Audio Firewire 410 ( http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/F ... -main.html )

The software program i'm trying to get the MPC to recognize is SONAR 4
( http://www.sonar4.com )

I connected the Midi IN of the MPC to the Midi OUT of the Soundcard
I connected the Midi OUT of the MPC to the Midi IN of the Soundcard
I connected the LINE OUT of the MPC to the LINE of the Soundcard

I try setting all the settings in MMC, TIMECODE to the same i try the digit 1

I still can't get the Software to recognize the MPC

Can someone please point out what i'm going wrong? I'm going nutts!

Thanks for your time.

What do you mean by 'recognizing the mpc' ?

I've been trying to do the same thing. I'm trying to get Sonar 4 to recognize my MPC so that I can use Sonar as the master and the MPC as the slave, basically get Sonar to trigger my MPC2000XL.

by recognize i mean for the software program to see the MPC and vice versa so like that i can drop beats into the program on real time

actually i thought the MPC would trigger the sounds in the Sonar program

yesterday i saw some progress, the Computer Software recognized the MPC but i still couldn't get the MPC to trigger the sounds in the program

anyone ?

I don't know anything about Sonar but i would suggest you check the midi time clock or midi clock on the mpc and in Sonar to make sure they're set the same.If the mpc is controlling Sonar make sure to send the MMC.Also make sure if you're using midi 1A you've selected the same Channel in Sonar.Hope that helps some.

Peace.

Honestly lost i wish i could help. You have some really thorough pictures so maybe someone can find something there.Like i said i don't know anything about Sonar but it seems like you have it set up right.Only thing i can say is that you have MMC Send/Recieve On.If you want the mpc to be the main controller set Send to on and turn receive off.

Hope you get it figured out.

(oh,yeah, when you do make sure you post up what's wrong so someone else can know the answer to this problem)

Peace.

anyways best of luck to you

What type of card do you have klixxx and how do you have things set up now?

By klixxx Sun Feb 26, 2006 4:36 pm
i baught an E-MU proteus X card... i installed all the drivers and then all the so unds that came with it on my pc... i got 2 ins and 2 outs 1/4... 1midi in 1 midi out 2coaxial outputs abd an opticalin/output
now.. this is what im trying to do with my mpc/midi keyboard system.
- record beats from my pc to my mpc (CHECK)
-record the beats i make from mpc to pc (???)
for this my connection is made by taking the outs from my mpc and putting it in the ins (1/4) in my sound card... when i go to my proteus X volume control on my pc i can see the volume bars goin up and down but when i try recording out soundforge i got nothing... i dont have the soundforge manual with me so i don tknow what i have to enable in order for that to work...
-im tryin somethin simple like hookin up my computer speakers to the coaxial outputs... no sound out of my pc speakers ( maybe im doin somethin wrong... maybe i have to ure a splitter on my 1/4 outs in order to get speakers to work on my pc....
-last but NOT LEAST lol.... i cant use the sounds on the proteus X... i don tknow how to have access to the sounds... wether its the drumkits or the different keyboard sounds... ive read the sound card manual but i really really dont understand it... mpc manual was a breez to learn compared to this one... ( so basically even with my M-audio OXYGEN 8 keyboard set up from out to in my mpc and with the usb cable attached from my keyboard to the pc i still dont have anything going for me lol)
anyways brotha
hope u can help... ive heard this basic learning is one of th elongest procedures and it is... but as long as i learn how to use my gear at the end of the road... no matter how much time it takes...ill be a happy man
thx for the help guys

O.k run the outs of the mpc into the ins on the Proteus via 1/4.THen use the midi out of the mpc to the midi in and vice versa.

If you want to use SoundForge to edit or record you first have to have something programmed into the mpc(sounds)If you're using a mixer go from the outs of the mpc into the mixer and run the outs of the computer into the mixer. Now from the outs of the mixer go into the computer. You can also use the master outs or control room outs to hook up your speakers. If not use the headphone out or one of the outs on the soundcard.

-im tryin somethin simple like hookin up my computer speakers to the coaxial outputs... no sound out of my pc speakers ( maybe im doin somethin wrong... maybe i have to ure a splitter on my 1/4 outs in order to get speakers to work on my pc....

See above info.....

-last but NOT LEAST lol.... i cant use the sounds on the proteus X... i don tknow how to have access to the sounds... wether its the drumkits or the different keyboard sounds...

Open Proteus X..Alright go into File on the Proteus and go to open.Somewhere under programs you should have the Creative Professional Folder, look in there under Production banks and open it up.You should see a bank file,by double clicking on it it should load to the proteus screen. Now take the out from the Oxy8 and go into the mpc in,go from the mpc out to the computer in.Select channel one on all devices.(mpc, controller, and proteus.)You should hear something while pressing the keys.Once you get a groove hit record/overdub or how ever you record on the mpc and play the keyboard.Whatever is in the first channel is the sound you'll be recording.Anytime you want to record from a different channel make sure you change the Midi channel on all devices.

ive read the sound card manual but i really really dont understand it... mpc manual was a breez to learn compared to this one... ( so basically even with my M-audio OXYGEN 8 keyboard set up from out to in my mpc and with the usb cable attached from my keyboard to the pc i still dont have anything going for me lol)

This should help you get goin' but if you need anything else post up.

Peace.

Either under SAmple Pool or in that folder there should be a little icon that says bank. When you click on it it will open. The channels are in sequential order once the sounds have opened in Proteus.

What's your main disk drive.(C: or D:)Look in that drive and see if there's anything for Creative there. If not you may have to go back and reinstall the Production Banks.(which would probably be best)
