watch sparq's videos, that should help you a lot. mpc only syncs to midi time code. is the keyboard connected to your mpc? describe everything in detail.

i already checked sparc's vids.. I did exactly what he did and no effect. that's why i'm askin, i had it working ones and now it doesn't seem to work for me. I've set up the mpc right like this: midi out b, midi in 1, sync active. Nuendo, i've set up the midi clock with the right midi channel etc. so.... What do you mean with midi time code? that's mtc right? the mpc 1000 only transmits and recieves midi clock. So that's not the right advise i think.... thamnx anyway. Can somebody explain to me how they made the correct settings in nuendo? cos right now i'm thinkin my software is ****! (although that seems very odd, cos it worked ones, and it's working well with other software... help!

sorry, yeah my bad you're right the mpc only works with midi clock. i can't explain why it's not working now, if you had it working before, have you changed anything?

Man, I've got Nuendo and an MPC. If you're using a MIDI interface make sure clock is pointed to the right outputs. When you go to the sync setup window turn off MTC. Send start messages. Don't have sync on as that refers to MTC and SMPTE I believe. You are trying to sync the MPC to Nuendo correct? Also make sure you don't have any MIDI filters on either.

I'm having the same exact prob. I've used the older vst/32 5.0 with updates, I've tried Cubase SX 2.0339, still the mpc won't start. The Mpc can control Reason 3.0, but I can't play any sounds (I watched the video). At first I thought that it was something that I was doing, but now after a few days of searching forums, faq's, and video's, I know that I'm settng this up correctly. The only constant in the setup is the mpc. I think i'm going to reinstall the os of the mpc. I never tried sync with the older os so i don't know if it worked before the upgrade.

Anyone with other suggestions I'm open.

BTW Austin, do you mean midi filters on the cubase or mpc?

MIDI filters on Cubase, I don't know that the MPC has MIDI filters. You might have some sync filter engaged. If you have a MOTU device as your MIDI interface you may have some routing concern there.

nuendo 2/3 works perfectly with the mpc 1000 2.1

for those who have nuendo and/or cubase, you can not have the mpc be the master, you have to have nuendo/cubase as the master. if sync'ing the mpc to nuendo/cubase all you need is to have the midi cables going from your midi interface out to the mpc midi in.

next, go to the transport pull down menu and then sync setup.

look down on the right side where it says midi clock and select your interface.

now on the mpc, go to the midi/sync page and make sure you have the number of the midi in selected.

then press play on nuendo/cubase and the mpc will start to play as well.

note: to get cubase/nuendo to follow the tempo of the mpc, look on the right side of the transport bar in nuendo/cubase and where you see tempo, click on it so it says FIXED and manually change the tempo there to match the tempo of the mpc.

if you need further help, holla at me.

Fixed my problem. Orig I had my old MPC 2000 (screen went bad along with other ish). It was only good as a controller. I had it all daisy chained, out pc to Alesis QS 6, out QS 6 in MPC 2000, Out MPC to the PC. Everything worked fine because I was just starting with Reason, wasn't tracking didn't have the software. When I got my 1k I just replaced the 2k.

Tonight I just tried a direct connection to the 1k to start eliminating hardware, hoping that nothing was wrong with the MPC 1k  First try... in the words of Emeril.....BAM! All is good in da hood! I hope that this may some how help you and you setup.

BTW Reason I also wrking.

But i know for sure everything is hooked up right and there's nothin wrong with my hardware cos reason works and other progs work to...... sh****!

not possible, i'm afraid. reason doesn't send any midi signals of the kind you want. in fact, the only things it does send, is audio, and controller feedback information for those midi controllers that support it.

I threw up a link to a Cubase/Nuendo template I created that has 16 channels of channel-filtered MIDI tracks so you can send to each properly.

Sonar and other DAWs don't seem to have this problem since you can set them to only receive certain channels, whereas Cubase receives all incoming MIDI data and you can only set the outgoing channel info. (unless you program MIDI filters which is more work than most people wanna do, hence my template)

Hope that helps someone.

hey... I found out why reason was working in sync and nuendo not... My damn midi out on my soundcard is busted for some reason! damn. So now i have hooked it up to my bcr controller and it works ALMOST perfect. Only there's one annoying thing.

When i push play in nuendo the mpc starts playing, but when i push stop, the beat stops and 0.1 milisecond later the beat plays again for 0.5 seconds.... So i have to push stop on the mpc and then stop in nuendo otherwise it will record that last annoying thing to! Does anyone know if there's a setting for that? or is it just a bug everyone has?
