Opera Or Violin

So I want to make a new track and am going to put in a huge effort on this one. I have wanted to do it for a real long time now, and with my new setup of equipment and focusing on mainly using my MPC1000.

I want to make an awesome rap beat for me and my buddy with a cool opera sample, and some nice volin beat. I try to use some violin synths from my computer and chopped up violin samples, but they always sound crappy.

I did one other track with an opera sample (www.myspace.com/DJAwethentic "Nothing Like Before") but want to do another one with violins. Any suggestions for songs, records, samples I could get on the computer or possibly download, or if I have to pick up vinyl and cut up and succeed at this task? Any input or suggestions would be dope.

dammit, i'm so dumb, I know that sounded mad corny to most of y'all since you all probably would rather just go pick up some old vinyl adn ish, but basically what it comes down to is, any good suggestions for songs, on vinyl, for that type of stuff for violins and opera stuff...

no i TOTALLY understand where this man is coming from.

I get the same feeling - damn, i really want a sick violin for this one. however, in ALL of my digging experience, it is INCREDIBLY difficult to find samples for violin that sound good. they are, to me, gold - incredibly rare, really hard to come by.

chopping violin is always difficult, too. it's just the nature of the instrument.

unfortunately, although i totally feel you, i cant offer you any advice. digging through classical is all i can say - but that's HARD, TEDIOUS and often unfruitful.

good music, but so rarely is it truly useable.

Handel is dope

a good tip with chopping violins is to experiment with delay, and slow attack and decays on the sample so it all blurs together.. to get the length of the note you need

just look through classical music they come with thousands on flea markets
i am fully loaded with violins but i cant find any decent bassguitar and some fonky guitar riffs

^ Jazz records have plenty of open bass lines.

For violins, oprea, classical, and cristian records also have nice violins.

i got a killer violin lesson vinyl. its so basic that it makes it easy to chop, mary had a little lamb and shit like that.
