Slider not working. need some help.

whenever I try to assign the note variation slider for pitch, it makes the sample low piched and when i move the slider nothing happens. basically it doesnt work with anything. I know there something wrong with it but Im not sure whats going on, has anyone encountered this before?

its harder than they say, but all it was is a little dirt. cleaned it out and it worked perfect!
