MPC2500 OSv1.10 Released!

Never mind!

When I load a group of wav files from the computer to the 2500, each sample sounds distorted. If I load the files one at a time, everything sounds normal. I also did a test using the MpcPgmMaker software, the problem doesn't appear when the wav files are in Pgm_folders.

Ok, i updated my 2500 and happy as a child went creating tunes. but when i inserted a midi track to midi 1A (virus) and muted the track, the midi signal was still sending but sounded with a short decay. when i unmuted the track it was just normal. is there some extra midi feature or some? cus this really annoys me. anyone got a clue?

man big ups to akai, i guess its inevitable now, the next os they drop will be for my trust classic 2k haha. yeah right

All this is great - although 72 bug fixes??! Says a lot I think.

But the bummer is having to copy all those files off (backup) and then re-formatting the the HD.

No...you do not need to re-format the hard drive....

the instructions suggest that u do re-format the drive

however u can get away with not doing it but hopefully it doesnt lead to future issues

True..it does say that...but it also states to use Akai memory and the site suggests buyers pick up hard drives on the approved/tested list....

Actually...I can't find where it states to re-format the 2500s hard drive...on Akai's site it says that about the MPC 1000 whose update procedure appears to be different than the 2500.

I didn't format after the update, and had no issues so far either. I saved all the important data beforehand however.

Maybe that warning is just a statement like "Please close all running programs before you proceed" in Windows So nobody can get at Akai blaming them for losing sequences and sounds after the update.

yeh i think so it uses the phrase 'it is recommended' as opposed to 'it is necessary' or 'you must' which says it all....

true it does say that it is recommended, akai probably are covering their ass, but keep in mind that they thought it could possibly cause a problem, otherwise they wouldnt have stated it at all

yes u probably can get away with not doing it, but does that really mean u shouldn't

U have 2 choices follow directions or DONT follow directions

it doesnt matter to me one way or another because everybody is gonna do what they wanna do regardless

I was just shedding some light because Jahrome posted earlier that the instructions DIDNT say it at all so I was showing him that it did

P.S.- we probably can all think of things that are recommended in this world that people choose to do or not to do

i.e.- closing programs in windows, changing the oil in ur car every 3000 miles, brushing ur teeth twice a day, etc. etc.

At least quote me correctly....I actually stated that I couldn't find it. The link I was originally given to download the OS didn't come with any instructions but I just used common sense to update the MPC.


...and you only need to brush your teeth once every 24 hours.
