Somebody should make a computer program that emulates...

I'm not really bothered about all the individual settings (filter, decay etc), while that would be a plus all I really need is the ability to import the sounds assigned to the same pads. That alone would save me a LOT of time.

Does anyone else use this workaround or similar?

tell you what that's a cool way of working, i wish bluebox could do battery kits. or maybe i should just get a mac? just goes to show though, that if you can't tell the difference of a beat sequenced in an mpc or a beat sequenced on a mac, there ain't that much difference between them, if at all.

Well actually, I still do almost all my sequencing in the mpc! I sold my 2000 off a while back and bought the mpd16, which I was using with Logic. That thing SUCKED. So i bought the 1000, which I only really use for sequencing. In my opinion (just my opinion!) Battery can do everything the mpc can do and more in terms of program creation, and Logic's autofilter pisses all over the mpc filters - but the sequencer in the mpc? Unbeatable. If you assign the midi notes in the mpc to correspond with the same notes in Battery, then your mpc sequences will come up in Logic as if they were playing on the mpc. So that's what I do. Means you have to create your program twice, but it's still quicker and less messy than tracking everything in in real time. You still need an mpc for this though.. And you can definitely hear the difference between the mpc and Logic's sequencer - the mpc is much better I think..

yeah i know that's what you did, but i meant when you originally make the sequence in the mpc, you are using the mpc's sequencer, but as soon as you transfer the sequences to logic, you are using logic's sequencer, and if there is no difference between the two sequences, sound-wise, then surely a hardware sequencer is no better than a soft sequencer, in timing terms that is, not workflow.

what you want is a roland sp606, which can do that , plus more, without bugs!

But the sequence was created on the mpc, so even though Logic can understand it and play it back, I've done A-B shootouts and I could never get my drums as tight with Logic as I could with the mpc.
When I triggered samples in Logic I always had to spend 10 minutes cleaning up the sequence in the grid edit afterwards. Maybe the mpc just has better quantise, but I just think inputting sequence info is a lot better/easier on the mpc. I'm not really talking about workflow - I'm talking about accurate sequencing - something I could NOT achieve with the mpd16 and Logic (1.33gHz iBook, 1.25gig RAM and still so much latency when triggering sounds it made me sick ).

do u actually have a 606 or just reading the specs?
