Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Madness Thu Jan 08, 2004 5:05 am
I have been experimenting with the RESAMPLE function and it seems to take forever, I waited close on 30mins to resample a shortish bass sound down to 22000mhz at 12bit with High Quality and it went for more than 30mins ages! In the end I gave up and powered down so I could get some sleep!

I tried it at LOW quality and it was fast but the cracks were to severe!

Anyone use the RESAMPLE successfully? Anyone know how long I can expect to wait?... If Im gonna have to set aside some serious time to do this I wouldn't mind knowing how much of my Saturday Im gonna need!!!

Peace

You would be better off takin the sample to a PC/MAC and do it within a wave editor.. It's faster. This has been stated many times before....

Check my link below for DEEPSOUND, a timestretching utility page..

I use my sound forge 7 for timestretching cause the MPC2kxl is just too slow as you've found out already.

Lampdog, he wants to resample in lower bit not timestretch.....the MPC2000 only reads 16 bit samples so resampling it outside of the mpc is really difficult....you can't load a 12 bit sample in the MPC....buy an Akai S900 and resample into the mpc :-)

Not sure about 12bit..8 ,16 + it can tho.

Its under PROCESS....BIT CONVERTER.

Mess with RESAMPLE to. Of course it aint gonna be the 'Sound' you think your gonna get but it can get close

It sometimes hard for me to accept that the resample (the process of reducing the khz,like 44.1 to 22.05) takes that much time one the MPC, while the timestretch is quite fast.
I think its a "bug", and Akai didnt work it out properly.

What I should have said back in the beginning was to:

Take the sample to a wave editor;

Resample to whatever BIT you want;

Save as 16bit and import back into the MPC;

It will have that 12bit or lower sound that you
want but will be saved as 16bit so that the 2k can read it...

That is what I meant to say all along, I should be more clear with my explanations from now on..
